@Jamayka24 :-

Can you not connect your phone via cable? My old Nokia Asha 'dumbphone' will let me connect via micro-USB. Way simpler than trying to do it wirelessly, I would imagine... Or was yours one of those where Apple had decided to do away with ports altogether?

Never needed to use to use stuff like pupMTV.

Mike. ;)

I assume you are talking about using PupMTP.

I do not know exactly how your phone works, but for may cell phone.

I assume you are trying to connect to the computer using a USB cable connection.

Plug the cable first into the PC, and then into the phone.

The phone also must not be in lock mode.

Iphone may require you to select that the PC is trusted.

On my phone (not an iphone):

When I plug the cable into the phone I have to select media sync MTP for type of connection.

When I start PupMTP the phone is shown as an item with options to mount or open. (open is grayed out)

Select mount to mount it.

After mounting. Select open to show its contents in Rox file manager window.

Use Rox as you do for any file management.

Keep PupMTP running.

To disconnect the phone.
Close Rox.
Use PupMTP to unmount it.
then close PupMTP.

Sorry, was trying to be brief.
I attached the phone with the cable and nothing showed up either
on Puppy or the phone, which by the way is very old and I have the
WiFi, and browser disconnected.
Normally in Windows (which I no longer have in the house)
the phone is recognised in Explorer as soon as you connect the cable.
In Puppy I was not seeing the phone anywhere so I used PupMTP
and nothing is discovered with that.
I think the cable is good, I am getting a ping/audible alert from
the phone as soon as the cable is connected.
Searched all the settings on the phone but see nothing relevant.
I'll get and try a different cable on Monday.
Thanks

Try a different USB port on the computer.

Some computers have a USB port that is power only.

This is from the internet search.

On the iphone, go to Settings -> Photos -> "Transfer to Mac or PC" -> Keep Originals.

This is a key step. Without this step, the phone will keep disconnecting.

If no help.

Hopefully, someone with an iphone will give some info, on how they do it.

@bigpup
2 Options as you said - it was on Keep Originals, I changed to Automatic but
still not showing up. I think it may be because I'm not connected to the internet.
I despise Apple most of all. I'll look around.

@Jamayka24

I did a test with my iPhone 12 (in airplane mode) and BionicPup64 with a USB cable. I accessed the iPhone photos after I gave the authorization on the phone and this without problem. I had to do a refresh in ROX to make the photos appear) Is your iPhone operational?

@BologneChe thanks- I just installed 2
apps recommended elsewhere for iphone problems: libimobiledevice and ifuse . No help.
This phone transfered photos to windows fine a month ago.
See screenshot from ifuse. A permission/authorisation problem.
I am not seeing the usual permission request screen on the phone.
Changed the cable; rebooted Puppy and iphone. See last lines in the terminal.

Try this.

Disconnect the phone from the computer.

Do a complete power off shutdown of the phone.

Wait 1 minute.

Power the phone back to normal operating condition.

Now try connecting to the computer by first having cable plugged into computer and then into the phone.

Do it like this:

PupMTP use to mount the phone, so Rox can see it.

Tried with 2 other iPhones and two other cables. Reinstalled libimobiledevice/ifuse.
The iPhone itself is not popping up the usual permission request screen, and ifuse is saying
'no device found' , and PupMTP says 'no device detected' so its a non connect at both ends.
As @BologneChe says - maybe a problem unique to this Bookworm OS.
Maybe someone will let us know if thats not so. ie, working OK for them.
This is not only my daily drive now but my only one, so hoping I don't have to keep a Win machine as well.

The iPhone itself is not popping up the usual permission request screen

This seems to be what needs to be fixed.
Getting the phone to offer to allow the PC to access.

Here are some tips on getting an iphone to provide the trust this computer option:

Note:
iTunes stuff does not apply to Puppy. That is a Windows OS issue.

@bigpup thanks, tried all 8 suggestions
but none worked. Just tried it on the wifes Win 10 and its fine.
' Do you want to connect ..etc' pops up right away.
Must be my much loved Bookworms fault. .
