@sonny
I thought I would try this out as I do have a ProtonVPN account.
Admittedly, I am using Jammy64 as a test bed.
Here are the applications I compiled/tested and installed.

The package that you created for Fossapup64 does not appear to have a coherent directory structure.
So, for testing purposes I had to execute the scripts individually.
openssl-error.png
I am confident that my build of OpenSSL is functioning correctly.
Can you explain the steps you took to compile this?
On my mobile device I do have a choice of 5 locations to choose from.

You appear to only have 3 'Free' servers available to you.
My mobile application is the latest build from ProtonVPN.
How did you get this to work?

@sonny

@Jasper
1. Please try on vanilla FP95 or FP96
2. Also, create & use a 'free account' with ProtonVPN
Note:
The server list above (pic #1) contains FREE SERVERS only

@sonny
I have an existing account with ProtonVPN have added the credentials to the VPNPass file (.........for security purposes, I requested new ones each time your script failed)
pass.jpg
Your application relies upon ProtonVPN CLI.
This I believe was deprecated and no longer functions.
This is from an existing application installed ........... using the same CLI tool.
protonvpn-gui.jpg
I do not use FP96.

@Jasper
Did you install the pet and run Proton VPN from the menu?
I'm afraid my pet works per se.
It utilizes @OscarTalks's work (vpn-onoff).
Btw, did you try it on virgin FP95?

@sonny
Yes, installed the Pet file and started the application from the 'Network' submenu.
That's the location with the icon.
Not going to try it on a clean OS.
I have pre-existing applications that I use regularly.
Maybe someone else can report back if it works for them

@Jasper
I don't think this pet will get along with
Proton VPN's proprietary app.
(the location of OpenVPN files could be a factor)
