Casting, send computer screen content to a TV
Casting is a term coined by Google for their Chromecast devices. It allows you to direct content on your monitor to your TV wirelessly. The content may be an internet stream like Youtube, local video (.mp4) or audio (.mp3).
This can be used instead of a wired connection.
In order to use it you will either need a smart TV that supports Chromecast (most do, check the internet for yours) or you'll need to connect a Chromecast dongle like Google Chromecast or Walmarts ONN device (recommended). You'll also need a wireless network to connect through. Your firewall needs to be disabled.
When using FossaPup64 9.5 @OscarTalks 's VLC media player could cast local video and audio files. The drawback was it could not cast internet content and VLC had to be compiled for the exact kernel you were using.
Now using BW64, the most flexible method I've found is Chromium/Chrome browser (try @mikewalsh portables) which can cast all the content types listed above (this should also apply to any other Pup running Chromium/Chrome).
First, setup your smart TV or Chromecast device, then on your computer:
