Would it be possible to get an update of the GNU chess engine in Gslapt to latest version 6.2.9 ?
https://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/chess.git
This engine is used by the Xboard interface, which is also available in Gslapt:

Not sure if anyone here plays chess on Linux?
Thanks!

Actually xBoard and the Fritz chess engine got me motivated to jump all in on Linux around 2004-2006!

I just updated the recipe, so the package itself should be availble soon, probably sometime tommorow.
In the meantime you may also want to try Jerry, which uses Stockfish (both in Gslapt).
Greetings!

I have not tried the Fritz engine so far @rockedge. Have you tested different chess engines in xBoard?
That seems to be an option:

That's awesome @JakeSFR. Thanks a lot. If you don't mind, could we also get an update of the stockfish engine in Gslapt, which is now available in version 16.1:

Thanks!
