EasyOS Scarthgap /"impossible installation" :( [SOLVED]

Hello everybody:

First of all, my sincere congratulations for this fantastic system.

https://bkhome.org/news/202406/easyos-s ... eased.html

I downloaded the last version (6.0) and I installed it without problems in a USB Memory.

I used to do this installation USB IMAGER 1.0.7 with good results.

I loved it, so I decided to install frugally in one of my partitions, but there I found the problem.

I opened the .img file using pExtract and I found two image files, 0-1, one prepared for Bios and the other for UEFI.

I have a BIOS pc, so I extracted the files inside this .img ( three files, easy.sfs, initrd, vmlinuz) move them into a folder and used grub4DOS to make the boot file (menu.lst).

It identified easyos (it named it as FATDOG but I thought there was no problem) I prepared the menu.lst and started the computer again.

When It boots, I select EasyOs, it started without problem, ask me for my keyboard but after write my keyboard number, it continued charging and.... ERROR.

It said it can not read the easy.sfs fileand I don't know what I made incorrectly.

I read all the instructions at Barry's Blog, I tried once and again but I always find this error.... CAN'T READ THE .sfs FILE.
(image at imgurl https://imgur.com/a/easy-os-problem-whe ... ng-vxdx4zc )
I think I extracted it incorrectly, I didn't use the correct software to read the .img file, I..... I don't know, because it works really well from the USB.

Can u help me a little, please.

------------------------------------

p.d.- I like EASYOS a lot, and I think It could make me change puppy for it (I need to test it on my PC, but it has all the tickets to be my default system instead puppy and its actual situation)

- Really good valoration at distrowach, good results and very professional comments.
A 8.8 valoration score, and... https://distrowatch.com/dwres.php?resou ... tro=easyos ... going up (34th position)

Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

EDITED.-

I tryed instaling version 5.93 RC and it happened the same.
i made this with my puppy f96ce_xfce_fusilli and its resources, then Instead of Grub4DOS I tried to do all this process using EasyOs 6.0 (USB) and the recomended program Limimine and with it I can't dettect frugaly installed distros, only the FULL INSTALLED one (xenial pup 7.5) so I can't do anything.

For me it is not so easy, haha, I'm sure I lost some step, excuseme.
I read one time and another this instructions.... https://easyos.org/install/easy-frugal- ... tion.html
Have a nice day.

Have you tried this?

Firstly considering GRUB4DOS. Where it is installed, you will find a file 'menu.lst'. Insert something like this:

title EasyOS Dunfell (partition sda3 folder easyos)
find --set-root uuid () 054a04b8-0f00-11ed-aeb9-287fcfeb4376
kernel /easyos/vmlinuz rw wkg_uuid=054a04b8-0f00-11ed-aeb9-287fcfeb4376 wkg_dir=easyos
initrd /easyos/initrd

That UUID value can be found by running the 'blkid' utility, for the example of EasyOS installed in partition /dev/sda3, with partition-label "easy2":

# blkid /dev/sda3
/dev/sdb2: LABEL="easy2" UUID="054a04b8-0f00-11ed-aeb9-287fcfeb4376" BLOCK_SIZE="4096" TYPE="ext4" PARTUUID="a3976784-02"

Thanks a lot for your answer.

Yes, I tried this, but now I think the problem could be that I have the easyos folder in a partition with lots of puppy distros, and when I use this command it doesn't give me the exact part of the this with easy.sfs is located (I go to easy folder, I room terminal there, write this comand -blkid- and...look image)

I used barry example of what to write at the menu.lst using this UUID but when I restart, easy ask me about my language, keyboard... and then it told me it can find easy.sfs

Easy folder is at sda5 partition (in the image) (it is possible the problem is than it is ntfs?)

Thanks a lot.

EasyOS requires a partition with ext4 filesystem.

Thanks again.

I moved the folder to an ext4 (sda3) and I tested to make the menu.lst with Grub4DOS and it didn't works, so I start my computer with EasyOs (USB) and I tryed to use the instaled software (limine) and now easy os appears at sda3 (ext4) but the problem is it can't create the menu file because there are no partition labelled as boot partition).

Bufff.... I'm blocked, I think I are not able to install it at a phisical HD)

NOTE.-

title Fatdog64 (sda3/easyos)
find --set-root uuid () 29abcea7-6a35-473c-b2f3-d47cabbb047e
kernel /easyos/vmlinuz pdrv=29abcea7-6a35-473c-b2f3-d47cabbb047e pmedia=atahd psubdir=/easyos pfix=fsck
initrd /easyos/initrd

AND THE ANSWER when booting is:

Can't find easy.sfs.

This is EasyOS NOT Puppy, the boot stanza you have is for Puppy, it won't work with EasyOS.

Try something like this:
title Fatdog64 (sda3/easyos)
find --set-root uuid () 29abcea7-6a35-473c-b2f3-d47cabbb047e
kernel /easyos/vmlinuz rw wkg_uuid=29abcea7-6a35-473c-b2f3-d47cabbb047e wkg_dir=easyos
initrd /easyos/initrd

Hope this helps.

CLAP, CLAP, CLAP....

Thanks, you make my day.

I have new O.S.

I gonna continue using my f96ce_xfce_fusilli, but I will stop using puppy as my main system.

It is not going to be a fast change, I must learn to work with easyos, but what I had seen It liked me a lot.

Thanks to all of you, easyos users.

Have a nice day.

Really satisfied with the OS I chose.

Congrats to all the users who made this possible, because (I am sure) frequent releases and updates from the developer, @BarryK , have kept the distribution in the spotlight. His reputation as the founder of Puppy Linux also contributes to EasyOS's interest but the most important element to make Easy 6.5 th is Recognition and Word of Mouth, because positive reviews and mentions in forums, blogs, and tech websites have increased its visibility.

Distinctive features such as "Session Management," "rollback capabilities," and "bare-metal containers" attract users seeking innovation and the presence of an engaged community sharing tips, customizations, and feedback has helped spread interest about this OS.
