I chose something I don't remember and switched from JWM to Openbox. And I see multiple LXDE elements there. But on Synaptic, LXDE is listed as available but not installed. So much LXDE is really installed? What happens if I install all the LXDE things from the Debian repository? Will they conflict?

Probably you ran "Desktop Manager".
Yes not full LXDE. It's Openbox as window-manager with some LXDE elements on top of it, pcmanfm, lxpanel, lxrandr, lxappearance. Don't know what happens TBH if you install full LXDE, perhaps you need to edit .xsession to run full LXDE (and perhaps edit ~/.config/openbox/autostart) .
