DevX is missing python3-minimal. This is the package that contains the python3 binary. From Bullseye onward python2 has been phased out and this is relevant for building packages. For instance, in Bullseye there is no libcap-ng-dev (which is also not in DevX) instead it has python3-cap-ng(,which is also not in devX).

I also noticed that the PYTHONPATH environmental variable is not defined although I'm not sure it is necessary. That said, if I do the following command:

Code: Select all

python3 -c "import sys; print(':'.join(x for x in sys.path if x))"

I see that
/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages

is not in the search path but in the python3-cap-ng package we have:

Code: Select all

/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/_capng.cpython-39-i386-linux-gnu.so
/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/capng.py

Note that to compile the same version of pflask that is used in Fatdog64 libcap-ng-dev is needed. I think that puppy should include this version of pflask so that people can have extra secure sandboxed browsers like @rufwoof does on Fatdag64 and what is also done in EasyOS.

I successfully compiled pflask for GroovyPup32, with capabilities and with this I was able to run an updated version of attackpup (puppy4 based) in a container. Here is the my compiled version of pflask:

pflask (download)

For notes on compiling see:
viewtopic.php?p=19071#p19071

*Note that I'm using python3.9 which is consistent with the only PYthon3 libraries in GroovyPup32.

@peebee, sorry, the 'shutdownconfig' in 'UPupGG+D-20.10+5.iso' has the same bug as 'slacko-7.0.iso'.
On first-shutdown, a number of dialogs are not shown.
So, I have attached a 'ydrv_upupgg+d_20.10.sfs' that contains the patched 'shutdownconfig' from woof-ce testing.

Download it into the install directory, before first-boot.

Howdy peebee! Just tried out the groovy gorilla, very groovy.
Just about everything I use in Bionic-32 19.03 runs in GG-32 :thumbup2:

PPM has a white text on yellow terminal when updating the package databases.
Hard on my old eyes  This pet makes it an easier to read white text on black.

PPM-color-fix.pet
This PET changes PPM terminal background to black from the yellow it comes with. Easier to see the white text.

peebee compiled Netsurf for ScPup32, it also runs fine in groovy
This Netsurf needs GLIBC 2.29 or later, GroovyGorilla has GLIBC 2.31 :thumbup2:

32-bit WPS office SFS or PET runs well in GroovyPup32, requires one added lib
I like this version of WPS best, when I change the layout to "Classic Style" in Writer-->Tools--->Switch UI, it looks & acts just like the old MS Office

WPS Office available here as SFS---> https://archive.org/download/Puppy_Linu ... 1_i386.sfs
MD5 - 30960ca329656e333f1f4c8f3a0a38a7
File size 105.6MB

WPS Office available here as PET---> https://archive.org/download/Puppy_Linu ... 1_i386.pet
MD5 - 21198c8ee304675a8b2ec28771fab2db
File size 127.6MB

WPS Office needs the following PET file to run in GroovyPup32

Thanks again @peebee for building Groovy. Very nice put-together. :thumbup2:

Has anyone else noticed that 'sfs_load' doesn't seem to work quite right?
It's most noticable when trying to "unload" an sfs, it doesn't actually get removed from the stack.

The problem sems to be the 'df' command, it's output no longer contains the information that 'sfs_load' depends upon.
I have attached a 'ydrv_upupgg+d_20.10.sfs' file that contains an 'sfs_load' patched to always call 'busybox df' rather than 'df'.
It works for me.

Just as a note to myself, we should check to see if the puppy specific df script was being used or if it has been overwritten with the full version. If the former case than this could be a woof-CE bug.

The issue with 'sfs_load' and the output from 'df', appears to be that information about "loop" devices are now not shown without the "-a" option.
So a solution for scripts that depended on the output from a straight 'df' command containing "loop" devices is to change 'df' to 'df -a'.

I have attached 'ydrv_upupgg+d_20.10.sfs' containing a patched version of 'sfs_load' that implements this solution.
It works for me.

Hi Nokedli,
Do you need the driver for GroovyPup32? I ask because the driver is built for a specific puppy version.
I will try to help.

Hi! It's not specifically for the Groovy Gorilla 32, if you know of another Puppy that works or have a Puppy that works, that's fine too. Aim to run Blender 2.7.9b or the latest Blender 32 bit 2.8. It would be ideal for me if you can also run gimp 32 bit, AZPAINTER, the latest 32 bit version of krita. Thank you. :thumbup2:

Hi Nokedli ,
Since we do not yet know which puppy version, lets move this discussion to the nvidia driver topic viewtopic.php?f=97&t=123
We need to find out which puppy 32-bit will run those programs and then we can work on finding the correct nvidia driver, perhaps there is a driver already built.

Do you know a puppy 32-bit that runs those programs?

Hi Perdido!

Thank you for your reply. I am currently searching, I don't have my chosen Puppy yet. I will collect my experiences so far and post them in the Nvidia group.

Thanks
