I have added for testing a new official phpBB extension.
An official phpBB extension that allows users to collapse and minimize forum categories with a simple click.

Features:

Collapsed forums are remembered for users (using the db) and guests (using cookies).
CSS styling makes it easy to adjust the appearance and placement of the collapse buttons to work with other styles.
Can be added to other extensions (if the extension's author integrates it). Learn how in the docs.
Designed for Prosilver and Prosilver-based styles.

I'm very used to this sort of functionality over at BleepingComputer (IP.Board forum software). I put it to good use removing the main Windows section from view......in which I have not the faintest interest! I also "hide" a couple of other sections, primarily security-focused (one being the training-ground for their "malware removal college"; apparently this resulted in a globally-recognized qualification for many years, although it's now in the process of being wound-down).

A lot of their stuff is a throwback to the very earliest days of the site, way back in '03. Lawrence Abrams (aka "Grinler") set up the site primarily for helping Windows users; the Linux section didn't arrive till nearly a decade later.
