I really like Lick. Fast and easy install of Puppy. But, when Windows crashes the next time I open a Puppy my save file is gone. Ive found that I can open Lick and install Puppy again, my save file is there on the next boot. Not a big deal but is ther something else I can do ? Its clear that Windows will crash as many time as it likes and I do need it from time to time so it will not go away.

Which exact version of Windows???

Is the Puppy save located in the same folder as the Puppy install files?

I will assume Puppy is installed on the Windows C drive.

Windows 10.
Save is in the frugal install.
My hard drive is partitioned. C is for Windows. E and F are for pupppies.

While I can't be sure, I don't have a Windows 10 machine, but this sure sounds like when
Windows "crashes" it is restoring from some last known good system restore point, perhaps
from prior to running Lick and installing Puppy. So, you might try saving your system restore
point when booted to Windows AFTER running Lick and getting Puppy installed.
Just an idea anyway.

That makes sense. I will do that now. The Windows 10 is a fresh install, never updated. It has System restore turned off when installed. I had to turn it on.

Absolutely correct. Windows just crashed about 15 minutes ago. I rebooted, did system restore and booted Puppy. All good. Much thanks.

You're welcome! :thumbup2: (A guess based on past experience with how Windows works!) :geek:

If Windows 10 is crashing this much.
You do need to let it install all available updates.
Enjoy having some coffee, washing the car, mowing the lawn, going to see a movie and a dinner out.
The update may be over, when you finish!
