Fossapup64 boot issue

Hello all,

I am trying to rescue Acer one laptop with low specs. Details -

Code: Select all

Machine:
Type: Kvm System: Acer product: Aspire One 753 v: V1.29 serial: 22602332
Mobo: Intel model: JV10_CS serial: N/A BIOS: INSYDE v: 1.29
    date: 12/8/2011
CPU:
Info: dual core model: Intel Celeron U3600 bits: 64 type: MCP cache:
    L2: 512 KiB
  Speed (MHz): avg: 932 min/max: 666/1199 cores: 1: 666 2: 1199

I downloaded the Fossapup64 9.5 iso from https://puppylinux-woof-ce.github.io/index.html. Copied it on a usb. Tried to boot it but it fails and lands on the grub prompt. To confirm it is not the usb issue, I tried it on a latitude 5500 and it boots without issue. The bios options in the acer are nothing to complex so no scope of making a mistake there. Not sure what can be done to make it boot. Please help me troubleshoot.

In the meanwhile I am downloading Ubuntu Bionic 64 to see if it works.

Regards.

Were you able to get this working?

Im not familiar with netbooks at all. Never had one. Have you changed any bios settings at all?

Tried to boot it but it fails and lands on the grub prompt.

Does it provide any info at all?

Try this:
Access the computers bios setup.

If it has option to disable secure boot do that.

Also look for anything about fast boot and disable that.

NETBOOK ?
most of these were 32bit... not 64.
QuickBoot and Quiet Boot = DISABLED

try again.

If this is a 64bit late model netbook, you may have to disable 32bit mode compatability by using UEFI at setup

You are probably better with DPup Stretch as that is a Celeron 2 gig unit right.

Fixed many like that....and still use that puppy occasionally.

Chris.
