Problem with Youtube in Palemoon

Hi, people!
Yesterday I got an issue: I can't open Youtube. The page starts downloading, then stops.
In the browser's console I see

Code: Select all

Error: Constructing ytd-app: [Exception... "File error: Corrupted" nsresult: "0x8052000b (NS_ERROR_FILE_CORRUPTED)" location: "JS frame :: https://www.youtube.com/s/desktop/3ee2b817/jsbin/desktop_polymer.vflset/desktop_polymer.js :: wAb :: line 9600" data: no]
custom-elements-es5-adapter.js:11:150

I want to ask: Has anyone the same problem or it is only on my computer?
By the way, Palemoon is latest version (33.0.2 64 bit).

Thanks!

@atmega :-

Hallo.....and :welcome: to the "kennels".

No, you're not the only one. I haven't yet bothered to run 'er from the terminal, but this is the first release of Pale Moon I've seen for a long time where YT isn't behaving itself for me.

The page begins to load; it gets to the thumbnails stage.....then the entire browser freezes solid. Won't even shut down. The only way out is to "kill" it.....

I doubt this is lack of resources, or owt like that. Running a quad-core Pentium 'Gold' G5400 @ 3.7 GHz here, with 32 GB of DDR4.....

I suspect Moonchild has just got a bug here, that's all. Unless this is the beginning of his planned AVX "minimum requirement" thing, though I doubt it; the browser wouldn't even fire up if that were the case. Guys, anybody else noticed this..?

Mike. :?

Methinks @atmega is talking about a failing ytd-app, i.e. a Youtube dowloader. This would have nothing to do with Pale Moon, right?

Another browser (FireFox) loads youtube perfectly, but, unfortunately, it has no sound ;)
We say in Russia in such situations - everything is against me. :roll:

@atmega

I am in the UK and am using Jammypup64 and the same browser.

No issues for me here

If you are downloading from YouTube, try this application provided by @plinej

Ensure you have yt-dlp, ffmpeg, and ffprobe installed.

viewtopic.php?t=11070

I do not know if this will work for you, but you could try it.

Download yt-dlp and then in terminal type in this:

Code: Select all

yt-dlp --geo-bypass-country RU https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=aC9HkZW2hZk&list=RDAMVMaC9HkZW2hZk

@Jasper
I have just checked music.youtube.com - it works!
But youtube.com can't boast the same...

@atmega - standard puppy issue with Firefox & sound - try running Firefox from a terminal with this command:
apulse firefox (you might need to put a path in front of firefox, depending on which puppy you are using, might be /opt/firefox/firefox).

YouTube working OK for me on Pale Moon 33.0.2 64Bit version

Maybe some issue with who is providing your internet service.

Maybe something in the Pale Moon preferences under Security and Content ->Media is set wrong. :idea:

Hello!
A couple of days ago Palemoon released new version and I immediately checked Youtube. Unfortunately, a miracle didn't happen.
However, the error wasn't the same. I didn't start digging because I use FF successfully.
And today everything is normal!
My observation:
Using FF for watching Youtube I have noticed that FF doesn't use a processor as intently as Palemoon.
