Thunderbird not opening links in Firefox SPOT

Post by Subito Piano »

Greetings! I set my default browser as firefox, run as spot. Now when I open a link in Thunderbird, Firefox always opens to the default page, not the link in an email. It's not fixed by adding "%u" to firefox, to firefox.desktop, or to the bash script I made to start firefox in spot mode, it must be something to do with running as spot.

NOTE:

  • I tested by setting the default browser in T-bird to "Chromium" -- same behavior (I believe Chromium is within user spot)

  • I then tested by setting the default browser in T-bird to "Palemoon" -- voila! It went to the correct page (of course, PaleMoon, in Fossa by default, is not under user spot)

My bash script is basic, it's not the issue:

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh
apulse /opt/firefox/firefox

But of course, I wish to open links in firefox under spot. Is there a workaround?

can you drag the link from T-bird to an open window in firefox and make it work?
is T-bird running as spot or root?

SOOOO sorry for the delayed reply! I just saw this reply. I've got to adjust my email prefs....

T-bird is not running as spot, although it is running through Tor. Firefox IS running as spot.

I CAN drag the link to an open window, although that is no quicker than copying and pasting. I am hoping to double-click as usual and have the link open automatically. It's not a major deal and a small price to pay if it's b/c of my security measures...
