Re-implementation of Xdialog

Post by khorben »

Hi there,

I learned a couple months ago that Xdialog is still used and useful in FreeBSD, when configuring the system with bsdconfig -X. I was already working on a re-implementation of bsddialog with Gtk+ 3, and figured I should continue this effort to cover the functionality and features of Xdialog.

I thought I should reach out to you in case you are interested, since I have just released gbsddialog in its version 0.8.1, which I hope will be included in FreeBSD’s official packages soon.

You can find gbsddialog at https://github.com/khorben/gbsddialog; it includes the re-implementation in tools/Xdialog after running make.

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or feedback.

Cheers,

Some features of Xdialog(1) are still missing or incomplete, like tracking changes to files in logbox and tailbox.

pmirror by Zigbert used a logbox to show the backed up files .
Few people use this software. There is other backup software .

Xdialog is being maintained by wdlkmpx:

Also, jamesbond has ported it to gtk3, and is actively maintaining it:
