Very painful accident. Looks like it's fixed up and on the mend. Thank goodness it wasn't worse!

Take some outdoor time, sun and a cool breeze and get better soon.

I ripped a big chunk of my big toe-nail off.
I placed it back and wrapped it up.
Amazingly it all healed well.

OUCH!

If you can superglue the tip of your thumb to the tip of your forefinger ... everything will be OK. On the other hand, you'll be fine.

Best of wishes Barry.

:) Why did you do that. For a bet? Or just bored? :)

I'm in pain just thinking about that.

Wishing you a speedy recovery Barry.

I was taking a walk with a new pair of shoes. For some unknown reason
my toenail just ripped off?? Very strange. But no harm done.

Sorry to hear that, Barry. Hope it heals well. Fellow lefty's tip: I don't swap the mouse buttons. You may find left-hand mousing easier that way. (When we had 1 pc, my family were annoyed at having to move mouse to right side - swapped buttons would've been worse).

Wow sorry to hear that and I can feel your pain.

I somehow managed to get my left thumb smash by a slamming car door 1964 Lincoln Continental which had suicide doors.

I lost the nail although it did grow back not perfect but almost and man did it hurt and took months to heal.

Never figured out how it happened but never want to do that again.

Take care of it and wish you a speedy recovery.

Ouch,
luckily that was not too bad.
A couple of years ago I built my sim-racing setup and I also had to do a lot of DIY craftsmanship work on it.
I also had to drill holes (16 holes) on a 3 mm thick aluminium plate.
Never ever underestimate the dangers of working with metals: it is so much harder than working with wood and appropriate tools are always needed.
Aluminium is a light and soft metal, but it's anyway metal.
I had to use a clamp and buy very hard drill bits, to be used together with a solvent fluid. And that wasn't easy anyway!
That's the first picture of Barry I look at. Judging by his hand he doesn't look too old. I thought he is about 70, but that doesn't look to be a 70 years old person's hand (or he did age very well).
Barry, since you are so famous, why don't you show your face to the world?
And of course, I also wish you a speedy and complete recovery.
May your thumb be back typing on the keyboard as soon as possible.

I'm 74.
Already back to using the mouse with right hand!
There was a face photo on the blog, sometime ago, testing a webcam.

It isn't really necessary to know what I look like.
There are so many contributors to Puppy and derivatives over the years; I'm just the guy who started the ball rolling.

Of course it isn't necessary. One is famous for his mind, not because of his physical aspect.
Mine was just curiosity, because you know: usually famous people / vips are easily recognizable:

  • Bill Gates
  • Steve Jobs
  • Linus Torvalds
  • Ken Thompson
    etc...

May your thumb heal fast :thumbup2:

Yes, I already found further 2 pictures of him around.
Thank you.
He looks to be a really cultured and nice person.
He is more or less exactly like I imagined him.
