Any internet stock trading software for Bionic Puppy 64?

Post by Tippe »

Hi.

Is there any good software for internet stock trading under Bionic Puppy 64?

Should be not too complicated, as I'm just starting with this.

Thanks.

Bionic Puppy 64bit.
Won't use another one.

As its been over 12 hours since your post and as yet no one has replied let me jump in with the advice that I think you are going about this the wrong way.

Regarding your specific question, there may be internet stock trading software that theoretically will run under Bionicpup64; but you may not want to use it under that Puppy. Bionicpup64 is an operating system published 5 years ago --based on Ubuntu Bionic Beaver now almost 6 years old. If the internet stock trading software needs libraries to run under Bionicpup it would be difficult (to impossible) to obtain it as Bionic Beaver's repositories are now archived and current software is likely to require libraries designed for more current operating systems. But perhaps even more important, creators of malware have had 6 more years to develop vectors for compromising the kernel and applications used in Bionicpup64.

Sometime ago there was a request for advice as to how to safely run an application named metatrader. You may be interested in the many hurdles I had to jump over to provide solutions. Plug the term 'MetaTrader' into https://rockedge.org/psearch/ for relevant posts.

The purpose of any operating system is to run applications/programs. I would suggest that your first question should be what internet stock trading software will run under any of the many versions of Linux. These two posts may provide a starting point in answering that question:
https://slashdot.org/software/trading/linux/ and https://alternativeto.net/software/meta ... form=linux. There may be others.

The next step would be determine exactly which versions of Linux the applications identified by those posts and meeting your needs they are known to run under. What I'd do is run google-searches plugging in the name of the applications and, serially, major Linux distros, e.g. debian, ubuntu, arch, fedora.

There are only three, possibly four, Puppys I would consider for your objective: Bookworm64, VanillaDpup64, and Voidpup64 and the slightly older JammyPup64 based on Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish. There are two JammyPups: one by grey, another by jrb. Use https://rockedge.org/psearch/ to find their threads.

But also take a look at the Kennel-Linuxes, viewforum.php?f=192. There you'll find 'portablized' Voids, Arch, Jammy and Fedora. Any application which will run under those distros should also run under the 'portablized' 'rebuild'.

Thanks.

I will examine all of this as soon as my new equipment is installed.

A few days ago I ordered Internet TV and Home Internet without data transfer limitations.

Currently I'm online only via Smartphone connected to the computer.
Currently I'm limited to 5GB.

Looks like they will come to my home on the evening of 20th February 2024.

Again, thanks

P.S.

I don't use the original Kernel from Bionic64.
I have 5.4.70-rt40 running on this.

Bionic Puppy 64bit.
Won't use another one.
