Palemoon browser starts up fullscreen...... it's annoying [SOLVED]

Post by Jasper »

Hi all

I am using Jammypup64 and the Palemoon browser.

It has been configured to start in fullscreen mode which I find annoying.

I have looked in the ./config/Palemoon directory and cannot find the correct file to adjust the profile.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

I do not believe this issue is OS specific

@Jasper :-

I find what usually works for me is to simply make the browser window smaller. Upon shutdown, it should remember this. When you launch the browser again, it should re-open as you left it.....

I assume you've already tried this? I've been running Pale Moon for years, and I've never needed any config "trickery" to get the browser to do what I want in this respect.

I don't know Jammypup64 but I assume it starts maximized and not fullscreen.

This "feature" has been requested not long ago by users who like their browser start maximized and inevitably other users find it annoying:

I don't want every browser start in maximized mode. Is there any clue to remove this feature? it affects every browser and every window open!

See my answer to above post (for newbies: the upward arrow in the quote is a link ;)

@MochiMoppel

Thank you :thumbup: .......... the "up arrow" did fool me at first :lol:

............ for browsing I like a 4:3 (?) window to read . Widescreen displays just have too much information for me :lol:

@mikewalsh

Normally, that does work for me, but not with this particular build.

I decided to migrate over to this as it has an updated build of OpenSSL and with @ozsouth kernel and advice, it's an easier transition from Fossapup95.

@Jasper :-

Ah. Ok; I see. Investigation shows that I'm "immune" to this particular "choice"; none of my Pups are sufficiently new enough to have this particular addition to the /root/.jwm/jwmrc-personal file......

Being an idiot (!!) and NOT running the very newest releases - by choice! - does have its advantages, sometimes..... :D :lol:

(My newest Puppy, PhilB's original Fossapup64 9.5, doesn't appear to have this.......so I'm guessing it's confined to F96-CE & newer. I'm also guessing this "feature" was most likely requested by folks using, say, a netbook with a fairly small screen.......or something similar..?) :?
