Could Someone Write a How-to determine Missing Wifi Drivers/Firmware?

Hi all,

Kati has just joined us, a newbie to LInux in general, Puppy in particular. And he has one of the most problems commonly posted to the Beginner's Section: he can't establish a Wifi connection. https://www.forum.puppylinux.com/viewto ... 61#p108661

The solution usually is that the Puppy being used lacks either the necessary drivers or firmware. Replies have already begun to be posted as to the terminal procedures he must run. But wouldn't it be more efficient if there were additional posts to the "Getting Started > Internet Setup" Thread or "Instructional How To>Network" Section providing the necessary procedure.

Moreover, Kati is a Windows immigrant to whom instructions involving use of a terminal may evoke connotations of a death sentence. Almost all recent Puppys include Pup-SysInfo. That application employs a series of GUIs to display, among other things, both PCI and USB devices and current drivers. But I'm not sure how one goes from the information thus obtained to a determination of what's missing/needed.

May I suggest that the "How-to" post/thread provide such alternative procedure.

Told you that I have the memory of a sieve.

But I usually make up for that by being able to search and find what already exists. Well, not this time.
