How to transfer music file to email attachment? [SOLVED]

Hi Puppy music lovers,

I am completely new to understanding how to use music files.
Is it possible to copy one track (Unknown Artist 01 cdrom#1) then easily send that piece of music via email to someone?

The machine is: HP Slimline Desktop PC 270-p0xx
The distro is: fossapup64 9.6 (x86_64)

Hey Sky

To copy a track, you'd need to rip it from the CD. You can't just copy the files from the CD and expect it to work.

What puppy are you using? Most come with a ripper or some kind. If you rip the track, it'll create a shareable file, like an mp3 which you'd be able to send to your pals.

Does FP96 have Asunder included in the Multimedia section?

This will be able to rip the music track from the CD and give you options to which format you wish to encode to; MP3 would be the most common.

Also, place the finished track into a folder and zip it up so that you can attach it to your email message.

Success! I as able to use Asunder 2.7 in FP96. I picked a track and Asunder put in a directory for me. I was able to include the file in my email as an attachment. The only hesitancy on my part was what extension to choose, .wav, mp3....? I'll see in a while if the people receiving had the software to open and listen.

You may not be able to send a .wav file as and email attachment due to file size, they are uncompressed, the track will be too large to send via email. You would be best to send as .mp3, which for most individual tracks should be able to be sent via email.

Deadbeef allows you to convert a track from an audio CD to a format of your choice (within the limits of installed plugins).
To do this, right-click on the track to be converted.
A dialog box will appear: complete as you wish.

When an audio CD is added, its contents are displayed as shown in the first message of this thread.

The Audio CD player plugin can be configured to display the contents of the disc.

Before inserting the CD into the drive, configure the plugin :
click on Edit / Preferences
then, on the Plugins tab
choose Audio CD Player and click on it

Opening the settings

set up as shown below

insert the audio CD into the drive
wait for the CD to be recognized
click on File / Add Audio CD

Deadbeef offers an equalizer (see Display / Equalizer menu).
