My Answer to the Reviewers of Puppy Linux........

Post by rockedge »

Not sure the reviewers get Puppy Linux in it's full light,

I made these completely using Puppy Linux, Roland D-50, Yamaha DX-11, Roland MKS-100, Mini-Moog, Sony stereo cassette deck, DOSBox for Fractint, OpenShot, Audacity, LMMS, Deadbeef for visualization.

The entire videos made using Bionic64 on a Dell Optiplex 980. I am no musician but played all the instruments via MIDI live. Recorded to cassette to Audacity then all combined with OpenShot.

Based on The Doors "The End"

Never mind building OS's and running full featured Zoneminder camera security system with very accurate facial and object recognition. F96-CE_4 can read your license plate and tell me if the machine "knows" someone or not at the front door.

@geo_c I don't really know how to play much on the guitar and can't read music but I like soundscape creation

@rockedge that stuff is gorgeous. I really like your guitar concept!

Puppy linux and Kennel Linux is amazing stuff. The fact that I can do full time music business on these OS's is all the review I need. Yesterday I spent all day scoring some original music using F96_CE4. I use that instead of KLVs because the Void repos are lacking some key components needed to get Frescobaldi running, which a great tool for lilypond editing. Namely python-poppler-QT and qpageview. They are not available in the Void repos (I might try compiling them at some point). I run frescobaldi in F96 and attempt to run it in KLV using the python command python frecobaldi and that's fanatastic because I don't have to install frescobaldi and can update it just by downloading the new package. I was happy to learn about that python capability.

posting from KLV-airedale-RT15 now using the RT13 kernel and firmware.

The first vid above has a very "Kraftwerk" feel about it. Nice.
