@amethyst
I've tried unzipping FewPlaylists.7z using both pExtract and uExtract without success. I've also tried removing the .7z thinking it was a "fake" then opening with a text editor again without success. I think I must be missing something. Can you tell me how to open this file?

Regards,

Ken.

Right-click > Uextract works for me

Unfortunately not for me. I have now used a different pup and browser (which I am not running as spot unlike previously) to download a fresh copy of the file to a different place. I now have two downloads of this file. The forum shows the file as145.4kB. Both versions I have show as 146kB in "properties". Right clicking either of these files and selecting UExtract gives the same output which is show in the image below. Hope this helps. I see there are 12 downloads of the file two of which are mine. I wonder if anyone else who downloaded the file has had trouble extracting it.

Regards,

Ken.

First of all, what distribution do you use?
and on the screen I see that you are not installed ( 7z , zip , 7zip )

Either your Puppy does not have 7z installed or your version of Uextract is too old...

First of all, what distribution do you use?

I tried this in both FossaPup64 9.5 with Uextract v3.32 and BookwormPup64 10.0.4 with Uextract v4.11. I don't remember ever having trouble extracting files with Uextract before.

and on the screen I see that you are not installed ( 7z , zip , 7zip )

I don't really know what this means. I was not aware I had to have any of ( 7z , zip , 7zip ) "installed" in order to extract them with UExtract. Hope this is of help.

I finally managed to extract this by trying in yet another pup i.e. F96 CE_4 which was successful. I cannot remember the last time or indeed if ever I had to extra a file of this type. I seem to remember seeing them when I used windows but I'm not even sure of that as it was a long time ago. Interesting that two quite popular pups can't open them out of the box.
@Jasper

Thanks for the link. I followed it and downloaded the binaries though I have not made use of them yet as I do not know where they should go. It's not really a big deal though for as you can see from the above I'm sorted should I have to extract another .7z file.
Thanks again for all the help.

@keniv

As you can see they will need to moved into

/usr/bin

for general use

If you want to add them to UExtract you need to place them in it's Resources directory

I did start a thread regarding "Streamlink" in the forum and it can be used as an alternative method of watching IPTV streams.

Which is useful if you do not have a fast connection.

To install the application, open up terminal and enter

Code: Select all

pip3 install streamlink

Let it grab all the files/dependencies.

Once finished, locate your <filename>.m3u8 file and enter in terminal

Code: Select all

streamlink https://csm-e-eb.csm.tubi.video/csm/extlive/tubiprd01,ABC-News.m3u8

Image

In this example I have chosen the best quality stream and to use mpv for playback.

Code: Select all

streamlink https://csm-e-eb.csm.tubi.video/csm/extlive/tubiprd01,ABC-News.m3u8 best --player=mpv

If you have VLC, there is no need to choose a player.

I followed your instructions to do the above in both FossaPup64 9.5 and in Bookworm64 10.0.4 and I'm pleased to say that I can now extract FewPlaylists.7z using UExtract in both of these OSs as well as F96 CE_4. Thanks again for your help with this.

Some of the streams posted which have sync problems may work correctly with VLC. I made a version for Fossa9.6CE, can be downloaded here: https://mega.nz/file/Ia5lkYqR#2SJvigTzl ... k9s3TIUEu8
