@linuxunix please stop reporting this issue again and again (23 matches in search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&author_id=1306).
9.0.11 will be out tomorrow, with the fixes in https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/w ... 6?closed=1. The update to Xwayland 21.1.3 (#2631) adds support for new NVIDIA drivers, making more users able to use Xwayland, while #2630 makes the automatic transition to X.Org on failure of Xwayland smoother than before. #2603 is an important usability fix requested by the great @BarryK.
9.0.11 is built from the stable branch (https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/w ... ree/stable), just like 9.0.10, so it should be a safe upgrade that fixes issues without introducing regressions or new issues.
All the fixes that go into 9.0.11 are also present in the woof-CE testing branch, where the Wayland support project (https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/w ... nd-Support) happens.

None of these things is going to be included, at least for now. You can install these things through PPM.
GParted has some big dependencies, and partitioning is something most users do once, or don't do manually at all - I don't think the extra size is justified.
MD5 is old and insecure, and I think most user won't ever use this tool. In addition, I prefer not to add tools that integrate into ROX-Filer, because it's unlikely to work under Wayland (= in the near future).
Regarding clipboard managers - I find them annoying, and they don't work under Wayland, producing weird results like copy-paste that works only between X applications.
PupSysInfo is not super useful IMHO (most users know what hardware they have) and it's a .pet package (Vanilla Dpup doesn't have pre-installed .pet packages, for security and maintainability reasons).
Good afternoon! In my opinion, the biggest difference between Vanilla Dpup and other "puppys" is the small size of its "filesystems". We don't want to fatten you up... My occasional use programs are of the ROXapps type. I click on them when I need to.... Well, due to Wayland's intransigence, I mostly use Xorg. If one day there is no more ROX-Filer? So, "my house fell down". Let's grieve with the things of tomorrow, when the time comes...
There is also the issue of simplicity. The same apps like ROXapps, also work on FatDog64-812, Slacko64-8.2.1 and DebianDog Bullseye which I also use.

Don't worry, the only changes that go into Vanilla Dpup 9.0.x are fixes. Major changes will go into a future 9.1.x or 10.0.x release. The weekly builds of 9.0.x will continue, and I intend to keep them until Debian Bullseye is phased out.
9.0.12 will fix one issue (https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/w ... 7?closed=1).
I'll be on vacation until November 28th, so 9.0.13 will consist of updates from Debian.
How to install wine?
9.0.14 is out and fixes two issues: inability to boot from NVMe drives, and inability to select a save folder when using a wireless keyboard (https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/w ... 8?closed=1).
Hi dimkr,
I have a frugal installation on a hp laptop model 17-ca 1046nf, AMD Ryzen 5 3500U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx × 8 , this laptop is quite recent and Vanilla Dpup recognizes perfectly the graphics card, the sound card, the blutooth, the wifi, everything works perfectly. But I have a problem when I close Vanilla Dpup, the pupsave is created but the shutdown process freezes during the process, I have to force the shutdown, the pupsave folder remains empty, I have to restart the localization, keyboard settings... at the next startup. Can this problem be solved?
Sincerely yours petihar.

@petihar Can you give more details? What do you see on the screen when it freezes?
Thanks for your quick answer, sorry I can't insert a picture here so here is a link.

@petihar In the terminal, run rmmod snd_hda_codec_realtek
and echo blacklist snd_hda_codec_realtek >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
. Check if reboot works now, and check if audio still works.
here is the return of the terminal:
~$ rmmod snd_hda_codec_realtek
rmmod: ERROR: Module snd_hda_codec_realtek is in use
~$ echo blacklist snd_hda_codec_realtek >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
~$
unfortunately the reboot still does not work
petihar wrote: Sat Dec 04, 2021 3:43 pm~$ rmmod snd_hda_codec_realtek

Try to run rmmod `lsmod | grep snd_hda_codec_realtek | awk '{print $1}'`
multiple times (until it doesn't output any error).
Thank you very much for your pugnacity dimkr, unfortunately this does not solve anything. The error messages do not disappear, they are still there.

Try to close the browser and any other application that may play audio
Thank you so much for your help, if you don't mind I'll start again tomorrow because it's late at home and I have to cook a pizza now for dinner .
Bien à toi petihar.
Hi dimkr,
I didn't open a browser or a sound player and... still the same problem.
I am disappointed but I understand that it is very difficult to fix all the bugs that come up. I'm not able to go further into the problem so I'll leave it to you if you have another idea.
Sincerely petihar.
@petihar Try to add module_blacklist=snd_hda_codec_realtek
to the kernel command-line - if you boot from the ISO you can press e to do that, then ctrl+x to boot.
Thank you very much dimkr but I can't get anything done. To tell you the truth, although I have looked for help, I don't know how to do it.
what is the preferred way to boot, at least the rolling development releases?
are you wanting bug reports at this time for boot issues?
here? or at
https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/woof-CE/issues
vanillapup-9.0.14.iso, downloaded and burned to cd, booted fine.
from booted CD, using bootflash to create ext3 with grub4dos on a usb flash drive,
it copied over most needed files, but I needed to manually copy over /boot and ucode.cpio
@williwaw I always create bootable media manually (do the partitioning, install the boot loader, etc'). The Puppy installers are in horrible shape - there's more than one installer, every installer covers only one scenario (flash drives, UEFI, whatever), and not great at that.
It's always easier for me if issues are reported in https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/woof-CE/issues - this way they don't get lost.

thanks
how do you typically boot the testing releases?
@williwaw I just create a UEFI bootable image (see https://github.com/dpupos/woof-CE/blob/ ... ge.sh#L174) and write it to a flash drive.
Does Vanilla Dpup 64 use a non-JWM desktop? I tried to install JWMDesk 3.2 and sct binaries first thing. They worked in 32 bit but don't work in 64 bit.
Is there a way to connect internet to a WPA2 internet connection in 32 bit Vanilla DPup? It had an error about missing a driver.
@hundido Try to switch to X.Org - https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/w ... rn-to-xorg
Which driver?
