@Wiz57

You are still offering help after all that @progrockfrog has said.

I'm surprised @rockedge hasn't taken the ultimate action.

Unless of course this is a complete wind-up.

Well I mainly wanted to verify that my links would work, if I used the right extension so as not to
trigger the online MS Office apps! When I first started with Onedrive some 20 odd yrs ago, it didn't
matter what type file you stored. Times have changed and they sometimes frown on EXE files, so
I had to rename it. Unfortunately, choosing a "doc" extension triggers the online MS Word app now
instead of offering to download the file. I've went thru this one as well as others and verified that
they can be downloaded now!

@progrockfrog @Wiz57

(1) progrock - are you in AU?
(2) does your Inspiron 6000 have a working CD drive?
(3) IF (1) && (2) == true THEN I can post a bootable CD to you with Friendly Puppy installed (I think). (Except I use the 32-bit Bionic pup). YAY @peebee You must send your address in a PM.

(4) The Inspiron 6000 was released in December 2005, two years later than the Inspiron 8600.
(5) I have (and use) the older 8600 - I used it within the last week or so. Yes, it runs a Pentium M, at the same speed as your "animal" and once connected to the web, works well enough. (Although I haven't used it to browse the web for several years. I use it (with Puppy only) for doing "stuff". However, I maxxed out RAM to 2GiB. It needs that much RAM. (Well, it will run with less - but you know the cost in performance.)
(6) I had a little trouble installing Puppy Linux to the 8600, that is because you must use the forcepae instruction in the booting operation. @bigpup solved the "pae" problem for me! YAY bigpup.
(7) I have nothing more to say, except I am confident you can make your 6000 work. (I have some D800s working too. The forum helped me install Puppy on them. A different Puppy, not the Bionic pup.)
(8) These older laptops will run for a long time if you treat them well. The CPU in my 8600 runs at 40 .. 45C. The CPU in my desktop runs at +60 .. 70C. Which one (do you think) will last longer.
(9) Alt suggestion. I can send a boot-able thumb-drive, but only if you live in AU.

"c" -- say "s" - as in "see" or "scent" or "sob".

I am done. Not going to try any further. Thanks for trying to help, but it doesn't look like there is a straight forward way to get this done. Maybe give it a month or two. I got the backups I needed from the 14.14 partition.
