Update see first post

I've added support for Dailymotion videos
Dailymotion is a video hosting service like YouTube. Though not as popular as YT, links to DM videos often appear in DuckDuckGo search results.

Links may look like this:
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7z81tt
or (when copied from Google search results):
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=video&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwir1ebiqMr6AhWbat4KHXy2CEkQtwJ6BAgEEAI&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailymotion.com%2Fvideo%2Fx7z81tt&usg=AOvVaw32yv_rr_3MgPpfOJsFHZhx

The script will convert them to the embedded format
https://www.dailymotion.com/embed/video/x7z81tt?autoplay=1
(Click here to try above link)

There are also URLs that lead to playlists on the DM main site, e.g. https://www.dailymotion.com/playlist/x3fu94
Videos on such a playlist site can be played in the provided embedded player (or fullscreen), but converting them with the script makes it possible to play them in their own window.

Compared to YouTube's main site the DM site is light weight and runs without stress on Palemoon, even without ads (haven't seen any so far) . The DM player seems a bit heavier than the YT player and embedded videos tend to start slower and with less resolution.

this is very useful, works great with invisible.svg (https://oldforum.puppylinux.com/search. ... isible.svg) to make the desktop icon invisible...

The link doesn't work.
You probably refer to this post: https://oldforum.puppylinux.com/viewtop ... 5#p1050605
I also have a lot of invisible icons on my desktops, consisting only of titles. I need them only for their keyboard shortcut functionality and seldom have to click them.

@MochiMoppel My link is bad!, your link is correct. Your scripts are very useful for my keyboard shortcuts I use often in puppy :thumbup2: .

@MochiMoppel

This works great! Palemoon moon used to chug, sputter, and smoke trying to open a youtube link, now it just pops up instantly!

I copy the link and use VLC. Media tab - Open location from clipboard. Flawless playback for me.

Hi. Is VLC still working for you to play youtube?

@bob93 I have been having issues with vlc so I have been using smplayer with mpv and smtube. Recently updated to 3.0.18 via a pet I found here.https://www.forum.puppylinux.com/viewto ... .18#p74181 That one however will not launch without starting it in terminal. Probably has to do with running as root.

Double tabs on vivaldi!

First this script works very well in low powered pups. I am testing out F96-CE_4 frugally installed on fanless miniPC (fit-PC3 Pro). It is useable with this script since only significant issue I find is youtube video takes lots of resources and playing videos runs slow and gets warm. Anyway when I launch my desktop icon to bring up the video tab (I have vivaldi-portable (64bit) as default browser), I always get 2 tabs playing the same video). This seems to occur only in 64bit CE_4, since running Jammypup32 using the 32bit vivaldi portable, only a single tab is shown.

anyone know a fix for this in CE_4?

https://www.tomsguide.com/news/youtube-is-going-to-stop-you-using-ad-blockers-heres-how

YouTube is testing a new tool that will prevent the use of ad-blocking software and applications while watching videos. Yes, the day many feared has finally arrived, the juggernaut video-sharing website is now taking steps to block ad blockers.

The ad blocker block was first spotted by a Reddit user(opens in new tab) who received a pop-up notification while trying to access YouTube with an ad blocker enabled. The message reads: “Ad blockers are not allowed on YouTube” and notes that “ads allow YouTube to stay free for billions of users worldwide” ending with a suggestion to sign up for a paid YouTube Premium subscription if they wish to “go ad-free.” The user was able to proceed to YouTube as normal once they had disabled their ad blocker.

Thanks for the info anyway, but note that this thread is not about "adblocker" the OP is about a script that makes YT video's view as "embed" (without ads, which still works btw).

@gychang Didn't you asked this before? Check your LAUNCH script and your old post:

The double tabs occur because you let Vivaldi open the passed URLs twice. See the "$@" ? This holds the passed URLs and customarily it is the last argument.
In your case it is too, but there is another here: ... vivaldi-bin" "$@" --user-data-dir....
Remove it and you'll get rid of double tabs.

It works!, MM, u r amazing!!! :thumbup2: :thumbup2:
