For those of you who aren't aware, these are the 'concept' desktop backgrounds for the already-under-development Windows 12, from a designer called "AddyVisuals".
Normally I like dark background stuff.....but the 'dark' variant of this doesn't look right, somehow. To me, it just looks drab.
Despite that, the 'light' variant just 'spoke' to me......with beguiling, come-hither tones. I like this type of focused, show-cased "abstract" stuff. Always have. So I 'Puppyfied' it. Yeah!
Mike.
(EDIT:- May need to modify it a wee bit by just dialling-down the saturation a smidgeon. That purple's a little bit "in yer face" for my liking. Subtle IS, after all, my middle name..! )

Trying to rescue this old netbook. It doesn't have enough RAM for pfix=copy and a browser, maybe I'll buy a 2 GB stick of RAM. Applications take 1-5 seconds to start but work OK-ish, RAM consumption is pretty low (~130 MB with pfix=ram) but colors are distorted under Wayland (the screenshot looks OK on other computers, probably a rendering issue on this laptop). Firefox works a bit better and everything feels smoother under Wayland, so I hope to get Wayland working nicely and utilize the GPU as much as possible on this single-core CPU.
Still haven't customized anything but I don't expect a multi-tasking beast

@dimkr, two weeks ago I tried a similar experiment with Vanilla Dpup 10 32bit, Atom N450 2GB RAM, default boot stanza. It ran OKish, I only tested ff and lxterminal together. Browsing pages was OK, snappier than I expected. Youtube was really bad but at least ff didn't crash. I wasn't expecting anything better from such an under-powered machine. Vanilla was a pleasant surprise overall. Thanks.

@Sofiya That is a really good looking setup. Looks like KLA is really coming along now nicely.
@rockedge, sorry everyone for asking OT - is that TOTALCMD running in Wine on your desktop? Which TC and Wine versions? Do you find it useful in Linux? Did you configure it in a special way for Linux? Thanks

@step Yes it is Total Commander!! I have used it since Windows 3.1 or so. I began to use it because in MS-DOS writting programs and batch scripts I started using Norton's Commander and found the 2 pane file manager invaluable. Migrating over to Total Commander was a logical choice.
I always missed Total Commander in Linux or BSD. Midnight Commander is close and extremely valuable but I need to do a lot of Internet FTP work keeping several web sites operational, and I never fell for filezilla and stick to gftp or use Thunar or similar when in a pinch. Total Comnader and FTP work alone is reason to have it. Also on board is Photofiltre Studio X or the free version Photofiltre 7. Photofitre has batch image processing capabilities and is easier to use than GIMP or Photoshop for what I need an image editor for.
It works well in Linux except for the Network SAMBA type options. I think there is a way to adjust WINE to get the network tools to work but I could live without that feature since FTP works so well.

This is FELIX a global file manager originally designed to find duplicate files to keep the ever larger disk drives trim. This program ran all sort routines in RAM so a 20 mb disk drive was the upper limit. But in 1993 when a friend and I wrote it for MS-DOS systems, 20 mb drives were a true luxury.

I've also been a user of Total Commander for years - on both windows and linux; BUT - for the last few years on linux I have been using Double Commander instead. Very, very similar to Total Commander (which it is based on), and a genuine linux product. https://doublecmd.sourceforge.io/

@mow9902 Yes I have Double Commander and xfe as well. Somehow I always go back to Total Commander out of brain muscle memory.
"Brain Muscle Memory" sounds like a psychedelic Rock album title.

Muchas gracias nuevamente.- Saludos.
If you are using xfce, I recomend you to increase the default size.- I don't know why, but the results are fantastic (use XFCE-UI-SETTINGS as in the included image, and FONT MANAGER as the included image too).
As I told you I don't there is no "logic" but when browsing and working it looks faster.....
