If mankind's greed and ego doesn't lead us into an extermination, we, humans in the world, 'may' become collectively knowledgeable in our use of AI FOR OUR PERSONAL BENEFIT over the next several decades.

Thats a pretty big IF
Do you have evidence to support placing your faith in "collective knowledge"?

Sounds too good to be true.I am an unshakable Skeptic.
Nevertheless i am deeply impressed by your unshakable Optimism. I hope/wish you were right.

Yup, I'll go along with that. Whilst Clarity's unswervable optimism - and belief in humanity's inherent "goodness" - is certainly impressive, I can't agree with it. I've seen too many atrocities perpetuated by man against his fellow man during my lifetime. Humans are their own worst enemy.....and anything "invented" by man will ALWAYS be twisted toward nefarious, self-serving ends. Musk is a prime example of that. He only expended a small portion of his enormous personal wealth toward getting "the Donald" elected in the hope it would lead toward a huge increase in that personal wealth.

Self-serving, y'see.

There will always be those who wish to control others. Personal wealth is but one way of doing so. I've long held the belief that the only time when we humans will truly 'advance' is when the need for personal wealth, gain & possessions is past. That won't be during MY lifetime.

Reminds me all too vividly of the shenanigans displayed within Orwell's 'Animal Farm'.

'All animals are equal'.....then Snowball alters the 'Rules' on the end wall of the barn to read '....but some animals are MORE equal than others'. Hah.

And later in the book, toward the end, when the pigs are starting to display distinctly human traits, Snowball modifies the 'Rules' again. The primary rule becomes 'Four legs good.....two legs BETTER'. Yeah, right....

Orwell was more of a prophet than he could ever have known. When the apes evolved into Australopithecus, and began to stand on two legs.....the stage was set. That's when all the problems began...

Mike. ;)

But where is Australopithecus today?

After this pass week-weekend the messages in religious practices speaks to this statement

If mankind's greed and ego doesn't lead us into an extermination, we, humans in the world, 'may' become collectively knowledgeable in our use of AI FOR OUR PERSONAL BENEFIT over the next several decades.

You may NOT like it. You may not like me. You may not like people.

BUT, WE and the rest of us, should NOT or stop in any attempts to guide our young and others that attempts to move mankind in a better behavior objection is tantamount to our increasing intelligent growth and our evolution.

Make and take steps you feel appropriate to move mankind to a balance acceptance of others in society and to bring our desire for greed to not be the path toward that balance.

Just saying

I instructed ChatGPT to make an image using Zalgo Glitch. Without any specific details, just make an image. What do you see when you look at it?

Hello @Misko-2083

Was your use attempting to design or redesign something or is there some other element of discovery you were after; like learning how to use that feature for your purposes?

Curious

@Clarity I was exploring text tricks for something and ChatGPT listed them. I was just curious if Zalgo can be used as a pattern to paint.
C̴̡͕̝̝͇͍̝͙͔̙̳̐l̵̢͖̺̤̼͎̫̞̩͇̀̓̓̒͑̓͆͒̑̓̕̚ȁ̶͈̖͈̜͌͂̎͑̈́̅̀͗͜͜͜ŕ̸̛̤͓̩̺̼̟̽̾̒̿͐́̚͘͜ͅi̷̞̞͇͖͙̖̻̲͗͋̇͛̅̈́̑̋t̵̢̟̯͚̘͕̖̱̽͒͛̾̈́̚̕͠ͅͅy̶̡̛̲̫̖̩͎̹̩̟̐̽͊͐̽̅͒͊̏͜͜

And it creates zaglo glitch text just like that, manually it would take some time.

This is generated puppy, told it to use a spirograph and a rainbow pen.

That needs to go in a new puppy release as the wallpaper.

Thanks @Misko-2083

Some really neat and creative ways these new tools are being put to use by forum members.

And, I agree with @geo_c in suggesting that outcomes can be functional and useful in forum desktops.

Thanks

The trick is to use the wording that fits best for a given AI. ChatGPT kind of has the best intuition.

I got some wild results on Microsoft designer, whatever AI it uses, with
"Spirograph rainbow mesh in a shape of a puppy on a black background." or even "Spirograph rainbow mandelbrot mesh in a shape of dog on a black background."

This insight MIGHT be useful to some. It is very reasonably accurate and highlights a short coming in OUR OWN human deficiencies. Enjoy

OUR OWN human deficiencies.

I've been working on some methods for intercepting the close button on a foreign window on X11 for KDocker.
When close button is clicked it closes the window but it is supposed to close to tray which it what KDocker is.

There were many attempts before and people just walked away from this feature.
Some tried with Xembed but could not figure out how to make DnD work. Passing DnD to embeded window.
That is not so easy but doable, bigger issue are applications with client side decorations.
Those apps handle their own decorations and embedding them in another window would make no difference.

I had an idea is to place a small helper window with the button that would follow the window.
This was the first attempts about a year ago.
Image
Turns out that raised many questions like where to position the helper window, size...

I've just figured it out. It's much better now. https://gist.github.com/user-attachment ... c999f3bd68
I've figured the best way to position the window is to drag it with alt+click and resize it with ctrl+click & drag.
That does not interrupt keybindings of the application.

Now if I would want it to automatically find the location of the close button and it's size,
I would have to use AI (opencv with yolo) and train it on 1500+ pictures of toolbars and close buttons edit every single one mark and label close buttons.
I already feel deficiencies when only, thinking about editing 1500 or more images.
