One of Puppy's bff - the fast, featureful, GPU based terminal emulator

If it really has to be a prompting cat, then this can also be achieved by just changing the PS1 variable to the Emoji of choice. In BW64 this works with the installed LXTerminal. Despite the "U" in its name the default urxvt terminal is largely Unicode agnostic and would only show a white block instead (actually not that bad :D ) Maybe somebody knows how to fix urxvt?

Presenting a Challenge for for those who dare............

Take F96-CE_4 and add, replace and modify it to include ALL of the latest major packages. Update glibc, bin-utils and all the pieces needed to make a:

F96-CE_5

Most of what is presented here, it not all of it, will fit well in F96-CE..................

Forget the Free Masons and become a Puppy Linux Master builder......

OK, Nice !

Run gdrive account add
This will prompt you for your google Client ID and Client Secret

But this assumes that you have created a Client ID and Client Secret for gdrive in the Google API console, right ? (can be a pia for the average user, I guess)

Always liked Opera's GUI. I suppose it's OK for general web-browsing. But don't trust it's FREE VPN. Your content is encrypted from your computer to Opera's Servers and from those Servers to their destination. But at the Servers the company can act as 'man in the middle'.

Hi Jasper

Is there any chance to get diff for devx, just to avoid downloading new version...?

ALSA only!!

Homepage:
https://jackaudio.org/

JACK Audio Connection Kit (or JACK) is a professional sound server API and pair of daemon implementations to provide real-time, low-latency connections for both audio and MIDI data between applications.

So this is working great on F96_CE4!

I installed lv2-dev and Carla and qjackdctrl and it seems pretty smooth sailing so far:

Fossapup64 9.5 already has a volume slider in the desktop tray.

I strongly suggest not to replace it with something else.

The slider is part of the program that provides overall control of sound settings in Fossapup64.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.

@sonny

You are posting replacement software for some of the core files in Fossapup64 sound control.

Have you installed them all in a Fossapup64 9.5 and had no issues using the newer versions?

Also any of the programs that use them?

I always install, test, and use whatever I compile before sharing.
That is my sop.
Thanks again for asking, Biggie.

@Jasper ran into a small issue installing the YAD package (and some of the others)!!

The permissions for /usr/bin are being changed to 777 which throws a warning:

Code: Select all

Insecure directory in $ENV{PATH} while running with -T switch at /usr/share/perl5/ZoneMinder/Memory.pm line 141.
Compilation failed in require at /usr/share/perl5/ZoneMinder.pm line 37.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/share/perl5/ZoneMinder.pm line 37.
Compilation failed in require at /usr/bin/zmpkg.pl line 34.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/bin/zmpkg.pl line 34.

which is fixed by returning the /usr/bin to chmod 755.

This is happening to a few of the packages during the installation which I have to say so far are working on F96-CE testing :thumbup2:

@rockedge

Thanks for the feedback.

When I compile the applications, I use the default DevX.SFS so GCC remains at 9.3 etc.

The only additions I have included are Cmake and updates for the internal applications eg Make, AutoConf, AutoTools etc.

I do test the applications prior to sharing and I would not upload/share anything that I am not using on a day to day basis.

Most of the time (....when I remember  ), I do post the compile/test results. So members can see what has been included.

So, it is a bit strange

More importantly, I am glad that you have found a solution

Are their fundamental differences between FP95 and F96 that may have caused this?

No not enough differences. But the fix is simple! The permissions are wrong inside the PET package!!

Fix by extracting the PET and changing the chmod from 777 to 755

Code: Select all

chmod -R 755 usr

Repackage the PET afterwards and it's all set

according to numbers.

Yes, you are correct it is a duplicate.

I must have compiled it again for another application I was attempting to build.

If this is a way for me to upgrade glib I'd like to try.
