I can download and test in 7T if that is a better route overall?

My pups: LxPupSc64 and Voidpup64 with LXDE ydrv and synaptics touchpad drivers, both using small savefiles for customizations. Ydrv based NoblePup64 and Fossapup64-small (both LXDE/PCManFM with no savefiles). No fdrvs throughout. :thumbup2:

Got it, thanks :!: I did do a fresh install/customize (both LXDE and LXQT) with 7T and it handled my video much more cleanly than my old 6T with savefile. I'll get 8T going shortly. I still prefer LXDE to LXQT, particularly for its' panel setup and stability but I'll give it -and me- a bit more time and see.

:thumbup2:

8T up and running well on the Fujitsu S761 hardware. New install/savefile from scratch (std frugal to SSD), clean dmesg, excellent glxgears FPS, intel drivers by default on boot, libinput still adamant about not letting me turn off tap-to-click even though I have physical buttons that work but my synaptics driver pkg still works. I'll just use LXDE for a bit now in 8T and round off any rough edges I find in the new install before I try LXQT again. I tend to use other non-savefile pups but LxPupSc64 remains the workhorse for 3 of my users so I'm happy to see this bump.

day 3 update @peebee ,

The 8T straight LXDE install has run absolutely perfectly in 3 days daily use. No hiccups with my synaptics touchpad drivers, tap-to-click disabled etc. Also checked that on my sole Fujitsu S762 which has an ALPS glidepad and it's ok (and necessary) there too. Old HP4500 installed with CUPS, hplip_print_scan_slack_64bit-3.19.8-2 used, and also the venerable Brother HL-2170W laser driven with HP PCL4/5 emulation.

Satisfied there, I added the LXQT bdrive into the mix, keeping only my synaptics touchpad drivers, Peasywifi 4.9, and a terminal based gtk2/3 themeswitcher I use in a severely scrubbed savefile. Clean boot to LXQT, easy wifi connection, touchpad drivers ok. lx-rightclicks 0.7 and desktop_drive_icons 0.0.5 installed from the options panel in Menu>Desktop>LXQT Change Appearance. Enabled the compositor there to get panel transparency also:

Gives a stable seemingly solid system, couple of issues:

1: Haven't gotten the desktop drive icon background to be transparent as yet, frame and position control and functionality are fine. Minor puppy side issue.

2: The LXQT panel setup and configuration is AWFUL compared to the quite intuitive LXDE one. I hope/assume they'll get it sorted. To get a reasonable quicklauncher set up takes both knowing the secret code and manual editing of the .conf to get the applications in the desired order.

3: The worldclock widget configuration and flexibility id just as bad. I hope it gets fixed or reverted to the Date/Time app but what I have seen so far on the LXQT forum is pretty much "tough rocks, figure it out".

Overall, I do have it set up to my liking and will use it as my daily for a bit.

Thanks again,
