IMPORTANT!
The work to transfer puppylinux.com to it's new home which will include the Home page, Forum, Blog and Repository all unified running on the same server and sharing the security of valid certificates, is under way! This will take several days to complete.There will be an announcement when the transfers are complete and Puppy Linux will be operating from it's shiny new home.
Meanwhile the forum will remain running on this domain name until then. https://puppylinux.rockedge.org/

Excellent. Rockedge, you're a star...!
Mike.

Oh! Is Puppy getting vaccinated? (Pfizer I presume). EDIT: being specially created P_fizer
Pffft! Puppies get canine distemper virus, canine hepatitis and canine parvovirus vaccinations. Pfiizer or AstraZeneca haven't a clue!

Hi rockedge,
Can I ask that when this process is completed that the forum will still be able to be accessed from the https://puppylinux.rockedge.org. This would allow the much less expert members, like myself, access to the forum and help while they attempt to switch to the new domain. Thanks again for all the effort you've put into this.
Regards,
Ken.

@keniv :-
Ken, I would hazard a guess that once everything is sorted out, either of the two main URLs will get you to the Forum. I could be wrong, though.....it has been known!
We'll have to wait & see how it's set up.....
Mike.
The plan is this:
puppylinux.com will be the main URL and lead the the home page as it does (did) now.
forum.puppylinux.com will be the forum's URL
Once the new Puppy Home is ready the URL puppylinux.rockedge.org will be removed and the forum.rockedge.org will be the permanent URL going forward.
We will have room for the Puppy Linux Blog and a few other ideas as well. First things first and let us get this up and running!
@mikewalsh and @rockedge
OK gents, I'll wait and see what happens. As you might have guessed I'm still a bit worried about getting locked out again when the change takes place. Have taken a note of the proposed forum url which looks the same as the old one (though I haven't checked) so should be OK.
Regards,
Ken.
I sincerely hope nobody takes offense at this. IMHO, we all should (again for some of us), reach into our wallets, click on the "Donations" button, and "give a few".
I'm reasonably sure this is costing rockedge some extra dollars, so lets show our appreciation, PLEASE.

Tried that but unfortunately Paypal insists on stealing unnecessary personal information.
Would be nice to be able to donate without address, email address and phone number being scavenged.

So.....you'd like everything online to be completely anonymous, hmm..? C'mon, Ian; you're not playing "the game", mate. You're NOT being a good, unassuming member of "the herd", following the path laid out for you, doing exactly what's expected of you.....
You're being awkward; insisting on doing what YOU want to do, the way YOU want to do it.....constantly throwing a spanner in the works. How you expect all these poor guys to make a crust out of your activities, I'll never know. You're letting the side down, mate!! (*tee, hee, hee...*)
What ARE we going to DO with you, Ian?
Mike.
There is always regular mail. The old fashioned stuff a check or cash into an envelope disguise it as an invoice and send it to me. Since anyone with a slight effort can find or already knows my address. The NSA,FBI, MI6, Interpol and probably the Russians and Chinese (I know the Germans do) already know my address, what the house looks like from the front, sides and above and what browsers and operating system I use, and including what my entire medical history is and what I did in school and what is stashed in banks....so no problem giving out the address if so inclined to mail the money. PM me and you'll have it....if your sending something. The USAF knows my blood type and has my dental records.
Western Union seems as invasive as PAYPAL but I'm not really sure about what they want to know.
The "Fed's" already know we are friends.

Many posts contain links to puppylinux.rockedge.org (and e.g. attachments too), are you sure the puppylinux.rockedge.org url will be removed ?
I ask also because I was at the point of editing some of my posts, to change url's to puppylinux.rockedge.org (which are dead now, as pointing to forum.puppylinux.com) , but now I read your message, I'll wait.
And... any news about how long the operation may take from now on ?
Fred
No worries about removing the URL! I am simply going to put a permanent redirect from puppylinux.rockedge.org pointing to forum.puppylinux.com to preserve the Links.
greengeek wrote: Sun Mar 14, 2021 6:35 pmFrom my cellphone i cannot connect to forum.puppylinux.com as i get the following message:
"The web page at index.php/? could not be loaded because:
net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED"and from my PC i get:
"Pale Moon can't find the server at forum.puppylinux.com"
All fixed now - thanks rockedge et al !
EDIT: hmmmm, not sure why the forum changes the url i typed...
a bit of humor......anyway we are using some redirects of URL's to keep sites available while the work to upgrade the code and transfer to new servers is under way!
wiki.puppylinux.com??? Or where is the wiki now? Also the blog? I presume that stuff just gets fixed later once everything completed.
@wiak All being worked on actively!
Both the blog and wiki run on PHP 5+ and we are fixing the code to run on PHP 7+. Both will be back on line soon.
As the wise ones once said, "Rome wasn't built in a day"
PHP 5 is depreciated. So the move is right on and while we are doing such major renovations, 01micko is working feverishly to get both sites up and functioning.
Watching, and listening to Doris Day on that YouTube you posted, has "made my day". I saw her perform several times, on stage.
@rockedge :-
Erik, just out of interest I've had to modify the Forum URL in a few of my browsers today. Instead of getting
Code: Select all
https://puppylinux.rockedge.org/index.php
.....it's been coming up as
Code: Select all
https://puppylinux.rockedge.org/index.ucp.php
.....instead. So what's that ".ucp" all about?
Changing to
Code: Select all
https://forum.puppylinux.com/index.php
.....instead has got me to the log-in page, and got me finally signed-in.
Mike.
@mikewalsh I fixed it!
Please pardon me for bringing this up again, however, IMHO, I think WE ALL who make use of this forum, should "reach down" and contribute whatever
you can. Remember, Rockedge is paying for the upkeep out of his pocket, and it shouldn't hurt most of us to "kick-in a few", a few times a year! I'm
reasonably sure he'd appreciate it.
