Based on screenshots, parole was working nicely. It seems a sound card thing. Did you try to play around on Output Device tab on pavucontrol. Did you also try other media player such as Gnome player?
rg66 wrote: Sun Jan 10, 2021 5:11 amNetworking is OK although it won't auto connect to my router after a reboot even though it's checked in NetworkManager.
Nice job Mistfire
Just logged into Quickpup and can confirm that it isn't auto connecting with wifi. I had to go into Network Manager and click on my SSID to connect.

Hello again
I did play with pavucontrol and finaly
found a solution,but have no idea why this happens.
Every time when i run parole i have to run audio mixer.
It starts with this settings and no sound.
Then manually i have to change to that
Now the sound works,but when the video finishes and i close
parole next time i had to do the same again.
For sure i am doing something wrong.
My main OS is DpupStretch 7,5 and DebianDog and never
had that multimedia problem.
May be is just rare strange combination of
hardware and software so because is just me
better leave it.
You are doing great job creating this puppies and is not fair
to waste your time on that.
Gosh, check to see if gconf is installed. I seem to remember that some Gnome and XFCE apps needed it to save config settings.
Edit: Looks like gconf is there.
Edit2: NetworkManager is not detecting my phones hotspot so back in windows
rg66 wrote: Mon Jan 11, 2021 4:10 amEdit2: NetworkManager is not detecting my phones hotspot so back in windows
I made a test, I booted QuickPup on pristine state. I turned ON my smartphone's hotspot. NetworkManager was able to detect the smartphone's hotspot
It detected my router but not the phone. Will play around later and post results.
Hi mistfire / rg66
In my case I use the option "share with usb" from my cell phone, have you tried it?
Cheers

USB tethering?
That will work on NetworkManager out of the box
I tried frisbee and sns and still no go where as windows 7 detects and connects easily. I'll try tethering later.
Edit: Posting from my desktop connected to phone. Must be my laptop wireless card, Broadcom using b43

Swapping FDRV file might do the trick
Thanks mistfire but it's irrelevant now as my laptop died yesterday. My backup laptop has Atheros, will test later in the day.
Cheers
Edit: Decided to check now and can see both router and phone so problem solved.
My thoughts
On my latest experiment. I'll try to split the QuickPup into three module like LxPupSc does
main sfs - desktop environment, system tools, and system utils.
adrv - contains browsers and media player.
ydrv - extras such as gutenprint, sane, games, etc.
Upon searching for smaller browser. Midori has the potential however the webkitgtk2 html rendering sucks. Upon searching the midori their default engine was moved from webkitgtk to Chromium Embedded framework which have the size of whopping 50Mb+ (sfs packed) compared to 25Mb+ (sfs packed) old midori. Old midori which uses webkitgtk 1.x have very poor CSS rendering on modern websites although it can play html5 video.
Regarding light browser (light-firefox) it doesn't play any html5 videos. Palemoon works nice but it doesn't play H264 video only WEBM. As my last resort I chose seamonkey.
QuickPup 20.06.3 released
Changes:
* More modular. browser (ADRV), media player (BDRV), and extras (YDRV) are now on separate SFS modules. System libraries, Desktop Environment, and System tools are only contained in the main SFS.
* Seamonkey is the default web browser replacing light browser (due to inability to play HTML5 video and audio)
* Initrd can now handle two additional sfs modules. BDRV and XDRV.
* Improved sfs_load to handle BDRV and XDRV modules
* Fixed XDG problems
* Fixed missing perl modules for exo email handling
* Improved puppy remaster tool
* Improved Redmond-Delta theme for GTK+3
* Bugfix for builtin package tools (repack and remove)

Hi mistfire,
thank you for this new pup. But - the permission to download from your google-drive is not properly set, so download is not possible.
peace

Download permission is now fixed. You can now download the file
Manually upgraded existing install to 20.06.3, including new auxiliary sfs's. All that I have run so far working well. A good choice to include seamonkey as the default browser in the adrive.
Well done. Thank you for your continued development.
Hi @mistfire
Reviewing this latest version of Quickpup (20.06.3), I find that it does not connect under any option ...
I started the connectionwizard and it only showed me the option to connect by phone and not wired / wireless LAN, thinking it was an error, I changed this script and although it was corrected by selecting frisbee as my internet manager, nothing happened. .
In the notification bar, the connection icon only shows that it is trying to connect but nothing happens
I think this happened only to me, maybe it's my pc or something like that, but this has never happened to me with your previous version ...
This is my quick review of this version and the only problem I found ...
For the rest that refers ... Excellent work
Cheers!!

HI @mistfire
That's right, the installation is brand new ...
The weird thing is that with the previous version I didn't have this problem ...
I am going to make a comparison in the network manager setting and see what the difference is (I have the two installations separately, each one in its directory) and if there is a difference I will tell you ...
And don't worry, maybe I'm the only one with this
Cheers!!
QuickPup 20.06.4 released
Changes:
* Glibc 2.32
* PPM can now install zstd compressed red hat packages
* Added ability to handle GTK4
* Improved initrd.
* Improved icon theming. Default icon theme was renamed from papirus to papirus-lite. This will avoid conflicting with the upstream papirus and also papirus-lite can use the upstream papirus by just installing it.
* Added redshiftgui
* Some fixes

Known Issues:
If the savefile of QuickPup 20.06.3 or lower was loaded and the icon theme used is the default. The icon theme will be fallback due to renaming the default icon theme "papirus" to "papirus-lite". This can be fixed by re-applying the icon theme.
1. Go to Applications->Desktop->Settings Manager->Appearance.
2. Click Icons tab and select papirus-lite
Just saw that a 20.06.4 update was available. Updated existing install to the latest version. Applied the icon theme papirus-lite as mentioned. All so far working well. Thanks.

Hi @mistfire
I'm using your last release version by the way...
And Finally!! I found a solution to my connectivity problem, but it is not exactly a correction since I had to change the kernel to 5.0.1 and with this kernel my problem simply disappeared ... it works from installations from scratch ...
This is the info of my ethernet card with kernel 5.0.1
▶ —— Network Devices —— ◀
Ethernet controller [0200]: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL810xE PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller [10ec: 8136] (rev 02)
• Kernel Driver: r8169
• Memory Used: 68.00 KB
• Path: /lib/modules/5.0.1/kernel/drivers/net/ethernet/realtek/r8169.ko
• Description: RealTek RTL-8169 Gigabit Ethernet driver
▶ —————————————— ◀
This driver is present in the original kernel although the connection is not maintained, it connects and disconnects in a loop
I hope this detail can be corrected in the kernel.
At the moment the network works without problems but Parole does not ...
Cheers !!
