rockedge wrote: Fri Jan 26, 2024 11:27 pm@Sofiya It's awesome. Really cool layout and one can feel the efforts made to get this great distro together
Booted KLV-HyperlandCE-3.3 on a Dell Optiplex 990 with 8 G of RAM and its running great, good responsiveness and looks fantastic.
Takes a bit to get used to the controls....sort of messing around......but I did set up the
load_snd-seq_mod.sh
script:
place in/root/Startup
:Code: Select all
#!/bin/sh sudo modprobe snd-seq
which works and MIDI devices are recognized by the system
In KLV-HyperlandCE-3.3 not everything is included, assemble through the build script, everything will be included there

@Sofiya Thanks........I am assembling a build right now on a F96-CE_4 which does a really good job running the FIrstRib build scripts for KLV's.

Re: KLV-HyprlandCE-2.0
I have finished the build successfully constructed and transferred, then installed frugally, KLV-HyprlandCE-RT. Using @Sofiya 's build script assembled the system rootfs and I swapped in the RT kernel 6.6.0-rt15
It is running right now and I can say at first tests, it is really fast. Started in around 380 M. Looks good but no wallpapers yet. Beginning to test audio/video configuration.
Screenshots will follow. But I need a nap for a bit.........

During the test drive, Smplayer was found to be behaving incorrectly. amendments have been made
in /home/spot/.config/hypr/configs/environment.conf
comment out line 9 .Uncomment line 10 . and in Smplayer settings enable Wayland support
settings > general > video - check the box Wayland support

But in general they are installed there by default, the ones in the picture
Select wallpaper MOD-ctrl+W ,MOD+W.
They are registered to load when the system boots, in order to install the ones you want you need to comment out line 8 in ( /home/spot/.config/hypr/configs/exec.conf ).Then install yours by pressing MOD-ctrl+W.
The wallpaper itself is located in /home/spot/Pictures/wallpapers. The script is written under this path.You can post yours there

- if you want 12h format instead of 24H format, edit the ~/.config/hypr/waybar/modules look for clock. delete the // and add // or delete the previous one
- CPU Temperature:
- a.) to change from deg C to deg F , edit the ~/.config/hypr/waybar/modules look for "temperature". Change the format to "format": "{temperatureF}°F {icon}",
- b.) to fix the temperature if not showing correctly, comment "thermal zone": 0 by putting // before. Delete the // on the "hwmon path". Refresh waybar by pressing CTRL SHIFT w. If still not showing correctly, navigate to /sys/class/hwmon/ and open each hwmon. Look for k10temp for amd. Not sure about intel cpu. and edit accordingly the hwmon path in the "temperature" waybar module.
- b.1) use this function to easily identify the hwmon path. Ran this in your terminal ``` for i in /sys/class/hwmon/hwmon*/temp*_input; do echo "$(<$(dirname $i)/name): $(cat ${i%_*}_label 2>/dev/null || echo $(basename ${i%_*})) $(readlink -f $i)"; done ```

I got tired of constantly setting the brightness so I did this.
For me it sets the screen brightness to 50%
I don’t know, of course, whether this will work for everyone. I just know the value of my Notebook and boldly set the value
in /home/spot/Startup/brightness.sh
Code: Select all
#!/bin/bash
sleep 2
brightnessctl set 128

@Sofiya The version I built with the script does not show the OctoXBPS notifier in the panel for some reason. This is not causing any problems but it is an empty position on the panel / bar.

icon is launched from /home/spot/Startup/octo xbps-notifier.sh .
If you are not connected to the Internet, this icon will not appear. emptiness is the system tray. System icons are displayed there if something is running on the system
The OctoXBPS icon is only displayed if the network is connected.You can remove the system tray altogether, but the bluetooth connection icon is also displayed there
if you don't need the system tray comment out in /home/spot/.config/hypr/waybar/configs/config-retro

Re: KLV-HyprlandCE-2.0
@Sofiya AMAZING!
I ran the build script to create KLV Hyprland.
I have so far worked out most things, to be able to use KLV Hyprland. I didn't see any GUI method to set up timezome, but have set it up manually. I followed direction in the cheat sheet to make wallpaper change persistent.
In the imaage in the preceding post, in the Panel, I don't know what the first item on the left ( a large round dot) is for, clicking on it doesn't do anything.
So far I have config change I want to make saved, except for Network setup. I just can't work out how to manage Network settings. For me the Network Manager TUI appears to function incosistently, or I just don't know what I'm doing. I was able to get a connection, but hadn't saved my changes when I made another error with something else so I did a reboot without saving, thinking I would be able to connect again. On rebooting, I was unable to Edit or Activate a connection. Sometimes when running Network Manager, clicking on either of the options doesn't appear to do anything.
Thank you for your continued production of excellent KL distros.
Edit: I finally got the network to hold my connection, but I had to resort to manually editing the connection config. To be able to do anything with NMTUI, I have 2 instances of it running, as the first instance doesn't let me do anything. Clearly something wrong with how it is working on my laptop. The window which is displayed, the bottom half of the window is all black, doesn't seem right. I did online searches on how to use NMTUI, it isn't working for me as described. I get very haphazard results.

I haven't tried it yet, but I gather that Hyperland is on Wayland. In KLV_Sway (also Wayland) I find that nmtui sometimes produces strange window and I occasionally juggle tiles till it look correct... Not sure why not displaying always correctly - presumably something to do with ncurses on top of Wayland, but I'm just guessing. nmtui does work for me fine though in Sway, but you would need to 'save' to persistence, if in RAM2 save on demand mode, for it to auto-connect on further boots. The fact you managed to connect using nmtui suggests it is working correctly (though that's just an assumption) but you need to learn how to use it...

Network connection
1) click on the network icon in the tray .the settings window will open
2) Press down key to select activate connection.a network selection list will open .select the name of your adapter . enter .enter password
3)after entering the password correctly you are connected to your network .then exit settings
The problem was I don't see a full window as you have shown. The bottom half of my window is all black. When I was trying to put in my password, I couldn't see it. To get a better view I have to toggle to float and the window is rederred better, so I can see what I am doing. Thanks @wiak for the tip.

nmtui can be annoying in how it displays, but it does work very reliably once you can see the entire window.
A good approach is to start with an empty workspace, open a terminal and run nmtui from the terminal. And yes I noticed floating it in Hyprland seems to help.

I ran the build script to create KLV Hyprland.The problem was I don't see a full window as you have shown. The bottom half of my window is all black. Yes, such an immodest question, what kind of video card do you have?
