puppy puppy_fossapup64_9.5 not start

Post by joz »

Hello I created a usb key with the DD command
on a pc it starts correctly
and on a 2nd PC it blocks with the following message

booting "find /menu.lst , /boot/grub/menu.lst, /grub/menu.lst"
etc..
>

I already have Linux installed on these 2 computers

an idea ?

What exactly is this 2nd PC?
Make and model?
Laptop or desktop?
Do you know if it is UEFI or legacy bios?
Specs?

No Puppy version supports all possible computers.
That is why there are several Puppy versions to try using.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o

Still need the info on what model Emachine?
Need info on CPU in it and amount of RAM.

If you cannot provide specs.

I can look it up by model.

Or you can just try a different Puppy version.

Try Bookworm Pup64
https://forum.puppylinux.com/viewtopic.php?t=8690

If this is a very old Emachine.

You may have to use a much older version of Puppy than Fossapup64 or Bookworm Pup64.

Again, no Puppy version supports all possible computers.
No way can a 500MB Puppy version, have everything to support all possible computers, as a Debian 3.1GB size version can have.

Fossapup64 has a bug about other USB drives plugged in, when you try to boot from a USB install.

So make sure when you boot with the Fossapup64 live USB, it is the only USB drive plugged into the computer.
