Hi @peebee,

I also tried LunarLobster a few days ago with kernel 6.1.47 and the system boots fine.

After 5 minutes I poured my first cup of coffee into the old acer laptop - that was the end of the test.

After disassembling, drying and reassembling I now have a dead keyboard and one defective USB port on my favorite computer.

Shit happens ...

peace

There have been 12 downloads but only 1 feedback report (of success - thanks @one )

Is this sufficient to add it to Woof-CE??

@peebee - just downloaded & tried this on upupbb-19.03 (bionicpup32-8.0+29 I think). PC is i3-5005u HP-G5. (That PC/Pup combo works fine with original & my kernels).
Although it booted & ran (sound, video, internet), an error list flashed on the screen as boot started. I videoed it - contains:

No EFI runtime due to 32/64 bit mismatch with kernel

TSC_DEADLINE disabled due to errata needs microcode update

Firmware bug - No firmware reserved region can cover this

ACPI BIOS error (x4)

Hi @ozsouth

Many thanks for testing and reporting......

I don't see any of those messages on my Dell T5400 desktop running LxPupSc32 or BionicPup32...... does anybody else see them?

There are quite a few Google hits for:
TSC_DEADLINE disabled due to errata needs microcode update ......

@peebee - with 6.1.52, same result (& errors) on same pc. As your kernel is non-pae (as per your /boot/config... in the kernel-modules...), only 2.5gb ram (out of 12gb available) was addressed. I re-ran with my 5.10.189pae kernel - no errors & (obviously) full 12gb addressed. That low ram addressing is why I gave up on non-pae kernels with my 2018-KernelKit.

As your kernel is non-pae (as per your /boot/config...

Thanks for pointing that out - it should be PAE - have rebuilt and re-uploaded with:
CONFIG_X86_PAE=y

@peebee - I've tried the post 1 link (& going direct to file). I keep getting the previous non-pae version & your download count isn't increasing. I also noticed the vmlinuz is much smaller than mine (4.54mb).

Hi @peebee,

tested kernel 6.1.52 which booted fine, but - like @ozsouth reported - only 2,4 GB (out of 4 GB RAM) are addressed.

peace

@peebee - is pae. Apart from boot errors as previous, sound, video, internet all work in both bionicpup32-8.0 & ScPup32_20.06. Must be something my pc needs that's missing from vmlinuz.

@ozsouth Your boot loader is probably not configured to load ucode.cpio, and AFAIK @peebee's builds are all built without this included. Maybe you're unlucky and have one of the (relatively uncommon) CPUs that refuse to boot or trigger random OS/application crashes when they use the factory-installed microcode.

@dimkr - I'm pretty sure now it's a bootloader incompatibility. My grub efi is old, like my 2018-Kit kernels. They seem to work together OK (with my intel microcode files) & I don't have issues with 64bit github kernels. Guess I was able to tell peebee his kernel works - as well as can be expected with my setup. I'll retreat to the relative sanity of 64bit.
