Hi @Governor :

Either install "apulse"

or try "Waterfox" https://www.waterfox.net/en-US/download/ a Firefox Derivat.

I tried the new Waterfox and did not like it.
The Firefox portable version I have supports audio on embedded videos, and it worked before for several months, and I would really just like to get it working again. I am currently running Puppy completely in RAM, and I don't know if that is a factor.
Thanks!

When did it stop working?
Did It stopped working after upgrading ??

I am currently running Puppy completely in RAM, and I don't know if that is a factor.

Don't think so ......can not imagine how this should happen.........but one never can know for sure.
Did you run it in RAM from the beginning?

Try testing to start Firefox from a Storage Medium......not loaded in RAM.
Or why not do a fresh install of Firefox portable?

More information please about the Firefox portable version, e,g. where you got it from. And if you perhaps tried to run it with apulse

This is probably the main reason why - when I DO use Firefox - I prefer the ESR releases as opposed to the 'mainline' builds.

The 'mainline' version tends to update very frequently, and always incorporates the very newest ideas and features as soon as possible. I have had Firefox quit working on me after updates, so I tend to stick with ESR now; it's a more stable experience, and updates are far less frequent; when they do arrive, they're more concerned with security & bugfixes rather all the latest features.

Just my personal experience. YMMV.

I am using Firefox 102.14.0esr (64-bit) which I originally downloaded from your mega.nz repository.
I just updated to 102.15.0esr (64-bit), No change.
Some videos have sound, others do not.
The problem persists.

I am using Firefox 102.15.0esr (64-bit). I downloaded it originally from the mega.nz repository. The sound has worked for several months when I booted from the harddrive (NVMe). I am running Puppy completely from RAM now, because the harddrive installation crashed and will not boot, even though I reinstalled Puppy on it.

Thanks!

I was told previously by an admin that I should myself mark a topic solved, so I did that. Was it wrong to mark the original post as solved? :?

I have no idea how I fixed it, I just kept fiddling with various sound related settings, and suddenly it worked.

Thanks!

No, as you did solve, it's good to mark it as solved.
