What controls GTK-theming in windows? (missing in Fossa64 Bas) Trying to add

Post by amethyst »

I have a Puppy where gtk-theming is disabled so I can't add gtk-themes. Running JWMDesk > GTK Theme, I get a message: "GTK theme option not available". How do I make the option available?

what is the Puppy version???

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o

Why is gtk-theming disabled? When present it's use of RAM is insignificant. How did you disable it?

Hi amethyst,

I can't make much out of your cryptic last post which only provides links to your posts on the Fossapup-bas thread. My guess is that you haven't installed radky's latest JWMDesk and that the built-in version doesn't handle GTK-theming. If that's the case, try the latest (3.6) version, viewtopic.php?p=32274#p32274

Like T'other Mike, I have not setup Fossapup-bas. I noted somewhere that I had recently updated the original Fossapup64 by, to a large extent, installing pets jasper and ozsouth published. I'll take this opportunity to again thank them. Puppy Package Manager>Uninstall reveals that one of the applications I installed was the aforementioned JWMDesk 3.6. GTK-Theming seems to be working.

Got nothing to do with JWMDesk (which I have installed) because it's just a GUI for several utilities. Something is missing with the Fossapup Basic distribution (there are no problems with the official, full distribution). Since the creator of Fossapup Basic (ozsouth) don't know himself what can be wrong, I think this is going to be a problem to solve. I've been adding JWM themes and icon themes without issues but can't gtk themes. Anyways, this is not a major issue. Just an extra eye-candy option not working. BTW - Making an entry for the new gtk theme in /root/.gtkrc.mine does not work either so I don't know.
