Video DownloadHelper stopped working in YouTube

Hi.

I'm using Firefox to browse the web.
To download from YouTube I'm using the Video DownloadHelper plugin / addition.
But for some time it doesn't work anymore.

It doesn't show the ongoing process of downloading anymore.
Aggregating the downloaded files to make the video in the end failed all the time.
No matter of .mkv / .webm.

It's only YouTube that won't work.
Doing tests on Youporn works as expected.

But I want to download from YouTube.

What's wrong? What's changed?
Can it be fixed?

YouTube change their system fairly frequently. The developers of the Download Helper plugin will need to change the plugin accordingly otherwise it will stop working. Also you will need to ensure that you have updated the plugin whenever a change has been made. Folks here will maybe offer suggestions of alternative downloader plugins. Personally I only download stuff from YouTube occasionally, but I find that youtube-dl (the forked version) works perfectly for me every time. Only requires Python2 (unlike yt-dlp which requires Python3) and running from command line you can do the update command before downloading.

I have re-activated an older version of Firefox in Version 84.0.2.
This has installed an add-on called Video Downloader Pro and it still works fine.

It's a bit slow (<100kb/s) but it downloads to .mp4 - all videos, no matter of .mkv or .webm.
So, no conversion to .mp4 needed to watch the videos on my TV.

Will use this Video Downloader Pro as long as it works.
Then trying something other like the link presented above.

OK, I just did a comparison download, same clip & quality ytube clip, using lux vs yt-dlp. Lux was a lot slower than dlp. It
was a lot faster, (but still slower than dlp), when I used the -m option for multiple threads:
