How to cancel Shutdown and go back to desktop?

Is there a way to cancel the Power-off screen where it's asking to SAVE SESSION or DO NOT SAVE and go back to desktop? I've tried Alt+F4, but that shutted down the PC WITHOUT saving.

One thing I've noticed is that in default ROX Ddesktop the wallpaper changes back to default on Power-off SAVE/Don't screen, while in JWM Desktop wallpaper stays as set by user.

No, it is already partly shutdown at that stage.
It would be possible to put in a cancel button, but would probably have to drop out to the commandline, without X, then would have to type "xwin" to restart X.
