I don't know what is your default Configuration Manager, but if you don't mentioned it , could be possible it is JWM.

Nowadays I'm not using it (I'm with xfce fusilli) tu I think in JWM configuration manager you should go to the Style Tab, and there take a look at the Font section and modify the font settings.

The "problem" is that you are going to modify fonts of all programs.

For sure other users can help you better than me, but just in case....

Have a nice day.

--------------------- as you can see at the image, with xfce fusilli is really easy and complete....

dimkr suggested this for Vanilla dpup is should work for all of them

Add:
Xft.dpi: 120
to /root/.Xdefaults

Note this is a system wide font size change

got it figured out. Fonts in rox-filer and findnrun get changed with the line
gtk-font-name="Ubuntu 16", larger number larger font. Some distro may have to add the line to /etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc (may have to create the file if not there).

JWMdesk -> GTK Theme -> Font -> Change font attributes

You can make more changes than just the size.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o
