Will Limine bootloader start Win10 without USB stick?

Post by szept »

Cutting long story short... I scred up MBR on Win10 PC (probably by multiple installation and removal of Linuxes as second os on same HDD - Ubuntu, swapped to Lubuntu, swapped to Antix) and now I have Win10 + Antix on it. Linux is only to have a bootloader and be albe to start Win10. I've tried few times to fix MBR - didn't work, so I have to use Linux' bootloader to start Win10 there (I have to have that Win10 there and I cannot format it). Currently Limine shows me this (from Easy live USB).

I'm planning to remove Antix with it's bootloader and install Limine's boot loader instead hoping to have a bootloader even if my Easy live USB is out of socket. Will that work? I mean - I want to be able to start Win10 on that PC with Limine, even if my Easy's USB isn't plugged in. Am I going to achieve that in if go ahead and install Limine? Where does the Limine bootloader goes? Do I have to put it on Ext partition? If yes, how big that needs to be? Can it be as small as possible with ONLY Limine on it?

Lots of questions. You need to study the existing documentation:

https://easyos.org/install/limine-bootloader.html

As well as at the project site:

Any spoiler such as "yes, it might work, but you need to study" or "no mate, not gonna work yayx!"? :)
Or... if you wrote I might study manuals you suggests it is possible?

Of course yes.
That is what a study of the documentation will tell you.
For a computer with UEFI firmware, you can create a very small esp fat12 boot partition of 8MB with just the Limine boot loader on it.

Quick question about Limine:
Can I change the waiting time on a Limine bootloeader screen f.e. when it's waiting to load EeasyOS on a live USB start? If yes - how?

Again, you need to read the documentation for Limine.
All the information is there, including how to specify a sleep.

How about TIMEOUT:

I have no luck multi booting with Limine ever since. My setup is USB stick for EasyOS then Windows on hard drive. When I use Windows I will just remove the USB stick--that's it! :D
