OCR - tesseract - error message

Post by cobaka »

Woof to all Puppians

I wish to use optical character recognition software.
I down-loaded tesseractOCR as a 'deb' file.
Puppy asked me if I wanted to install tesseract (it's a command-line OCR package). Naturally, I said, "Yes."

This is what I find using which:

which tesseract

/usr/bin/tesseract

Here is what ls tells me:

ls /usr/bin/tess* -l

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 21924 Apr 8 2018 /usr/bin/tesseract

When I try to use tesseract i get this error message. (Plus I include a few clues about environment (and so on)).

pwd #this is my working directory.

/mnt/sda3/zTmp

ls

words_d10.jpg #this is the snapshot of the text I want to convert.

tesseract ./words_d10.jpg ot_fil

tesseract: error while loading shared libraries: libtesseract.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I am using uPupbb32, installed using mikeslr (or big-Pups) copy files with ROX to a 'BOOT' directory.
I am confident uPupBB is working as expected.

Can anyone give me a link to explain the error message and how to fix the problem.
Have I loaded/installed only part of the environment needed by tesseract?

Thanks from cobaka

Dunno why I got big characters, but you can understand what's going on.

собака --> это Русский --> a dog
"c" -- say "s" - as in "see" or "scent" or "sob".
