Same issue raised when using FP96
https://www.forum.puppylinux.com/viewto ... 10b09d1d98

Maybe as suggested using an even older build of Puppy?

Does this problem go away if you run jwm -restart? This could be a bug in JWM.

Having looked at the DELL website, your laptop has 2 visual outputs VGA and HDMI

Resolutions are set:

1440 x 900
1920 x 1200
1280 x 800

If you had a working LCD then you would have been able to go through the available display options by pressing a dedicated button on the keyboard. This was provided by the manufacturer to enable endusers to check faulty LCD's.

VGA and HDMI will both output to higher resolutions then the listed ones. However, it seems that this appears to be locked regardless of what your external monitor can display.

In this instance Puppy most probably is scaling the background wallpaper to fit the available resolution.

For example a default background wallpaper on Fossapup64-95

You can check the settings in the Xorg log file:

/var/log/Xorg.0.log

Edit your conky configuration file or turn it off if not needed.

Use the JWMdesk application to configure the tray.

I think this is "the problem of judging",
Some actions are based on 1440x900,
Some actions are based on 1280x800.

@melon688
It appears your laptop is using the same JWM configuration file from when the original screen was still in place.
Have you tried using JWMdesk (upper menu tabs) to place the JWM tray in the new size? Make a backup first!
Also, read our own Barry Kauler's "How to fiddle with JWM tray height and width" https://bkhome.org/news/202204/how-to-f ... width.html
Again, make a backup prior to fiddling around with the settings.

The Conky file is another issue, just updating the x and y placement coordinates.

Try various settings, there is no effect.

menu -> System -> Pup-Sysinfo -> Devices -> Display -> Complete

I want to see exactly what is being used to provide the graphics and settings.

You can copy from Pup-Sysinfo and past into a post.

Bookworm Pup64 is still being developed, so you may have discovered a bug that needs fixing.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o

OS:Bookworm Pup64 RC

after first boot,setting to 1440X900:

right click -> Desktop -> Disgplay Control ....

Use right click -> Desktop -> Display Settings
This will present "Quick Options" choices, the first of which is
"Show the same screen on both laptop LCD and external monitor"
If I choose this option my external monitor looks like this (tested on Bookworm Pup64 RC):

display2monitors.jpg
display2monitors.jpg (36.71 KiB) Viewed 1066 times

Looks familiar

Choosing the second option, to turn the laptop LCD off and use only the external monitor, would be perfect. The only problem here is that the confirmation dialog after pushing "Apply" might appear outside the screen boundaries so that that the screen reverts to its previous state after 15sec.

My specs:
Laptop: Acer AspireOne 722, LCD resolution 1366x768
Monitor: Eizo, resolution 1600x1200
After boot Quick Setup reports resolution of 2966x1200, i.e. a dual monitor configuration. Practically nothing to see on the external monitor because it shows the empty right part of this virtual screen.

[Edit] Oh, I wasted my time. Above setting was already proposed in your second thread. .
It is annoying, disrespectful and also unproductive to open multiple threads in different forums for the same question. Don't do that!
