Firefox 77 and 78 Fixed https://disk.yandex.com.tr/d/x6Ye8ROba5igAQ (Racy, Precise, Lucid)

Some sites do not work as fully as the current browser, but this does not prevent use

Firefox 88 and 89 Fixed https://disk.yandex.com.tr/d/Dx1G7CagGo9_xQ

I have to say that 92 is the best version to use on an older device, neither as old and light as 77, nor as dense and heavy as 115, it's like the middle of the two

Firefox 92 Fixed https://disk.yandex.com.tr/d/sO_EXQ0zW_F-9w (BionicPup32, 20.04 FossaPup64, 22.04 JammyPup64 or newer)
Firefox 92 Fixed 2 Yadi:......
I've added as many settings as I can to alleviate connection traffic
This is the best for now frendos amigos

1) /root/Downloads/adrv_upupbb_19.03.sfs.extracted/opt/firefox/defaults/pref
local-settings.js

cfg file: When you add this file, the settings are completely added.
2) /root/Downloads/adrv_upupbb_19.03.sfs.extracted/opt/firefox/
ff4lxpup.cfg
@Burunduk reminded me, I didn't know such a file existed
Even if the local setting file is not fully added, all settings are added thanks to this file
local setting dosyası tam eklemese bile cfg bütün ayarlar eklenmiş oluyor (galiba bu dosya işe yarıyor)

3) /root/Downloads/adrv_upupbb_19.03.sfs.extracted/opt/firefox/distribution
policies.json

Geçici not: Tek şunu çözemedim, ana sayfa olarak www.startpage.com eklemiştim fakat ilk başlangıçta bu geliyor .ini dosyası eklenmesi gerekiyor olabilir, daha iyisini yaparsam değiştiririm >>> file:///root/%u

Firefox 101 Fixed

''Firefox 103, released on July 26, 2022, improved responsiveness on macOS during periods of high CPU load by switching to a modern lock API''

Firefox 108 Fixed (BionicPup32, 20.04 FossaPup64, 22.04 JammyPup64 or newer) Yandex Disk:

Firefox 109 + Manifest v3 extension compatibility

Firefox 118 + supports Wayland fractional scaling and Built-In Translation beta test

''Canonical, the maker of the Ubuntu Linux distribution, announced that the upcoming Ubuntu 23.10 (Mantic Minotaur) release will enable Wayland support by default for its Firefox Snap offering'' 9to5linux.com

20.04 FossaPup64 & 22.04 JammyPup64:
Firefox 92 Fixed https://disk.yandex.com.tr/d/dePdinFw-5i0Eg
Firefox 92 Fixed 2 Yadi:......
Firefox 101 Fixed
Yandex Disk: 105 adrvsfs Fixed
Yandex Disk: 108 adrvsfs Fixed

Yandex Disk: 115 adrvsfs Can be updated

Ubuntu-based fixed Firefox never crashes

temp note: Updating via the update itself (from Help - About) sometimes crashes, this may only apply to the version in my signature, but not to other more recent versions of FossaPup and JammyPup, I think it's best to use different versions as Fixed, at least for a while.

7 Sept 2023 perform Note:
When using Debian-based Firefox, the number of "web content" in the background is around 500-600 mb, 5-6 and sometimes 7, when using Ubuntu-based Firefox, this number does not exceed 3-4, Ubuntu-based Firefox is lighter than Debian-based Firefox

Firefox Change in System Requirements:
Firefox 115.0 Recommended Hardware
Windows 7 or later
Pentium 4 or newer processor that supports SSE2

200MB of hard drive space

Firefox 115 4665 pref lines
Even if the FF version is old, this add-on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... -adblocker
The functionality and appearance of the site you visit continues to be preserved.
Adguard is not just an ad blocker. With Adguard add-on support, I estimate 115 will last for about 3 years.✅

Firefox 116.0 Recommended Hardware
Windows 10 or later
1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster compatible processor or System on a Chip (SoC)
1GB of RAM / 2GB of RAM for the 64-bit version

Hi @sucuklu yumurta :

I am a Firefox User and I like it a lot, because you can configure it the way u want, but...

...you have so many configs for so many different pc's that in the end it will we a Try and Pray...haha

I tried with all sorts of cache configurations, save them, not to save, delete when closing FF, using ccleaner, using a lot of addons... and in the end, the best one for me was.... https://github.com/TenSoja/clear-cache CLEAR CACHE

For our next distro, we are working with FF 114 personalized.... take a look at this advanced image.

Have a nice day.

are the configs saved in a file you can just "drop in" when setting up?

@williwaw I can be wrong, but as much as I know,in this broswer, Firefox , the "about:config" page is not saved as a separate file, It is a built-in configuration interface so the settings you modify through this interface are stored in the browser's profile directory.

The location of the profile directory varies depending on the operating system you are using, I can't remember where could they be saved when using puppy , it's possible other puppy user could be more detailed than me.

Have a nice day.

@pp4mnklinux
Found it now
usr/share/firefox/browser/defaults/prefences
*firefox.js I think it's all here, there are many
and others
*debugger.js
*firefox-branding.js
*vendors.js

Tip: In About:Config, you can also set Update captivedetect.canonicalURL to an empty string. You can also add the detectportal.firefox.com domain to your hosts file pointing to 127.0.0.1. This will block the connection.

Finally, there are some more domains you may want to add to the hosts file. They are also serve for internal Firefox needs, e.g. for collecting stats and telemetry. They are not required for regular browsing tasks and receiving browser updates. Here is the list:

ostats.mozilla.com
sostats.mozilla.com
metrics.mozilla.com
hardware.metrics.mozilla.com
incoming.telemetry.mozilla.org
crash-stats.mozilla.com
experiments.mozilla.org
getpocket.cdn.mozilla.net
qsurvey.mozilla.com
telemetry.mozilla.org
telemetry-experiment.cdn.mozilla.net
detectportal.firefox.com

Some of the problems introduced by this puppy.cfg file have been discussed in viewtopic.php?t=8350 and viewtopic.php?t=7683&start=90.

It's hard to say about performance but this defaultPref("general.smoothScroll", false); makes my firefox completely unusable for me. If I hadn't used firefox for a long time, I would've ditched such a foul piece of software immediately without going to understand that it's just a custom puppy specific setting.

---

@sucuklu yumurta :
This is an impressive amount of preferences. It might be useful to put them in a file similar to the mentioned above puppy.cfg or in a user.js as described here: https://github.com/pyllyukko/user.js
Edit: Maybe it's worth to remind here how user.js works: firefox reads and applies the settings from it every time it starts. However, they are copied to the internal database and therefore stay active even if the user.js file is deleted. It's recommended to make a backup of the profile directory before putting this file in it.

---

Speaking of disk space used by firefox, I've recently noticed that the biggest file in my firefox profile is storage-sync-v2.sqlite-wal. It starts from 32 KB and grows up to 32 MB by 32 KB at every program launch. 32 MB is a limit set by a firefox compile option. Deleting it directly can corrupt the database. Possible workarounds are here. I don't fully understand them but it seems a brief connection to the database is enough to remove the file. This script does that (to be put in /root/Startup/):

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh

# remove storage-sync-v2.sqlite-wal file from the firefox profile directory (requires sqlite3)

pgrep firefox || find /root/.mozilla -name storage-sync-v2.sqlite -exec sqlite3 {} .databases \;

My goal is to use it as nopupsave when this settings file is finished. Firefox/usr/share/firefox/browser/defaults/prefences
I want to throw it in and make 2 sfs, am I wrong?
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thank you, I wondered one thing, can all the user.js settings be added to usr/share/firefox/browser/defaults/prefences firefox.js ?
I mean, I wasn't talking about the profile in the place with the random name
I'm talking about something that can be useful for everyone

Just a reminder,
always a good idea to make a backup of the user.js file in case of upset.

As for the arkenfox.js..i believe that this is what constitutes librewolf as this is the settings it basically uses.

I found the settings here prefs.js
Will it work if I put the prefs.js file in the opt/firefox/defaults/pref folder and pack Firefox with sfs that way ?

prefs.js from your firefox profile will not work in the folder where firefox is installed (opt/firefox/defaults/pref).

Preferences in prefs.js and user.js start with user_pref(...
Preferences in <any-name>.js in opt/firefox/defaults/pref should start with pref(...

You can run a simple command to remove the user_ prefix: sed -i.bak 's/^user_//' prefs.js or use your text editor "find and replace" feature.

More information on how the firefox preferences should be handled is here: https://github.com/pyllyukko/user.js#installation

The user.js file in the profile directory is usually left untouched. The actual modified settings are stored in the prefs.js file that is more worthy to get backed up. Other important information (extension settings and data, bookmarks, history, logins) is kept in different files. So it's generally a good idea to make a backup of the whole profile directory.

Exactly, that's what confuses me.
The objective is simple:
for nopupsave 2 or 3 plugins + Bookmark + edit-config + sfs pack
KISS philosophy, so I thought Puppy might be good for Linux

One does not have to be addicted to updates. I find the use of an ESR version of Firefox works well. But a "distribution" folder is needed to stop updates. With older pups, this HAS too be done, AtomicPup for example (netbooks 2008-12) uses FF78.15esr with a distribution folder to stop updates.

Even some of the addons need to shut-off automatic updates... things like libc get deprocated, REQUIRING newer version. OOPS, the addon messed up/doesn't work... most recent is uBlock. libc-2.23 don't make it anymore and some important things, like user-chosen blocking gets locked out! Atomic Pup is at a safe v. 1.45.2 (IIRC 1.46.x is last version for libc-2.23).

Thanks,
I tried the 78 version, there may be incompatibility on some sites, I tried with plugins, but I couldn't do it, what file and caller should be for 2 plugins to be pre-installed ?

I'm writing from Firefox version 77, for basic navigation I can't see any difference between it and the latest browser, it works fine
Firefox 77 sürümünden yazıyorum, temel gezinti için en güncel tarayıcı ile arasında bir fark göremedim, sorunsuz gidiyor

I don't understand the meaning of "plugin", the generic Distribution Folder as down load is either here or in the old forum (search for it). The Addons needed are uBlock, and ClearURL. 78.15 esr works great here IF you remove the junk from "newtabpage", and disable autocomplete, telemetry, and geo-location.

I mean "plugin" I mean "extensions", I'm trying to install the initial adrv=Firefox with 2 plugins, maybe I'll find it by trial and error
---
''plugin'' yani ''extentions'' demek istedim, başlangıçtaki adrv=Firefox'u 2 tane eklenti ile kurmaya çalışıyorum, deneme yanılma yöntemiyle bulurum belki

Because of the addons, I install the browser in ROOT. no need for adrive sfs. But thats a rather permanent solution... but good for slacko7.0
