How to make copies of files in same directory with different names? (Solved)

When I want to make a save copy of file bofere making some changes I normally (in Lubuntu or Windows) select the file and press CTRL+C, then CTRL+V and I get a copy of that file in same location with the same name, but with additional descriptions such as "name - copy" or something like that. I'm not sure if that's possible in Easy, because when I select a file and press CTRL+C and press copy on the dialogue windo window I get an error:

ERROR: Can't copy object into itself

Any ideas how to make copies of files in same location, but with slightly different name marking it as a copy?

Hi @szept My options:

1.- Save the full savefile (it is more or less big, but you gonna save everything)
2- Go to rox, thunar, pcman.... right click on your desired file COPY right click PASTE.... and rename.

I use both methods .... just to be sure.

Yes, in Rox, right-click and choose "Copy..." and give the copy a slightly different name. No need for any copy or paste via clipboard, unless I have misunderstood what you want to do.

Obviously not, but I think it would be possible if @BarryK would use a newer ROX-Filer version. I'm currently testing Bookworm64, and here, when I press CTRL+C on a file called "foo.txt" and then press CTRL+V, a copy of this file with the name "Copy of foo.txt" is created. When I do this again, the next copy is named "Copy(1) of foo.txt".

Frankly, I don't know EasyOS, but this description suggests that EasyOS uses the original ROX-Filer version, without a CTRL+V option. When your ROX-Filer opens a dialog after CTRL+C, just change the name slightly and you will get a copy of the file in the same location.
