Volume control on the taskbar has no effect (Solved)

I have sound, but the volume control on the taskbar has no effect at all.
Any suggestions?

Try from the menu options ........... <SETUP>, <ALSA sound card wizard>

then check the PCM level

The only suggestion that springs to mind is that if you right-click the volume icon and open "Settings" that gives you the Retrovol Configuration window. In the "Tray" tab you can change the slider which the single left-click alters. It may be that this is currently set to vary the wrong level on your system.

OscarTalks had a suggestion and it worked.
I checked the PCM level, and set it to max.
