SSuite Office Online....

Afternoon, gang.

I've been just, you know....."browsing" around for the hell of it today; re-visiting a lot of sites I haven't frequented for a while. including scouting around for new software (which I'm always doing).

I got reading a "Best of..." list on Slant earlier on, to do with office suites. I came across this online collection, which I thought some of you might perhaps be interested in:-

SSuite Office Online

Yes, it's an online office suite....."Ho hum", I hear y'all say. "Nowt to get excited about"..." Normally, I'd agree.....but this is so much MORE than just an office suite. Its launch page will take you to no end of other useful free online sites; online graphics editors, an online movie→GIF creation tool, online streaming TV (in this case, it's Pluto.tv, which is actually not a bad choice.....I've spent time here myself in the past), online games, various esoteric search engines, etc.

It also offers a number of utilities, which are of course built for Windows.....but amazingly, most of 'em seem to function under WINE (which I always have installed). Many are designed not for internet use, but for LAN use.....like between a group of people all working in the same office building, for instance.

(Judging by some of the app titles on the top line of the launch page, I get the impression that at least one of the devs must be a Queen fan. "Bohemian Rhapsody", if I don't miss my guess..! )

Second line's the giveaway....

Anyways; I offer you the URL, to do with as you please. Some might find it worthwhile. It may still be around 5 years down the line, or it might be gone next week! It's anybody's guess, as with all web-based stuff...

I understand you need a good internet connection, but if you have it... u must use it.

Almost certainly..!

As pp4mnklinux says above, if you've got a decent internet connection - and no 'cap'/bandwidth limitations - then you might as well make use of it. We have literally reached the stage now where every app you can possibly think of is duplicated with an online version, or equivalent.....there is nothing to stop anyone from running a barebones Pup, that will get you to desktop and not much more, using one of our many available 'portable' browsers, and spending a fully productive day online performing any & every task you could possibly think of. And then some.

It is, indeed, the basic premise behind a Chromebook - except a Puppy will also let you do even more.

Hi, @Jasper , thanks a lot for your answer.-

I read sometime ago about this puppy, but finally I never installed it, because of the info I read about it, viewtopic.php?p=45690#p45690 because although you can modify most of them (tabs, task bar, cromium limited to one instance...), I don't know if I could find any problem because I have more than one hard drive

-Hardware is a 64bit, dual core cpu, 2gb ram, only one internal drive (if installing to internal drive)

As @mikewalsh wrote, using the internet is a must, and each day u discover anything interesting and which can satisfy your needs.

The other benefit to users is that there is a pleothra of online services that offer computational power behind their services eg Adobe and Steam.

So their hardware does all the work and all you do is upload/download your content.

BTW, I am pretty sure you, @mikewalsh are the author of another post re: ChromeOS Flex.
