1152x864 in Lucid?
This low-priority project is still unresolved, but I wanted to share the bizarre screen resolution my old computer sets for Lucid:

Re: 1152x864 ?
IIRC 1152x864 is a old 4:3 CRT TV resolution, so Lucid is perhaps 'detecting' such a TV for the display.

Re: 1152x864 ?
@rufwoof that's possible. If I knew how it worked I would just tell it the 4:3 it detects is really 8:5.
I probably mentioned in the original post - I can fix this in xorg leaving X, but I can't in Tahr, and I couldn't get 4.3.1 to boot at all. Maybe there's a bootable earlier 5 that likes my resolution?
I've looked at 5.5 on a newer machine and like it. Tahr is probably too new for the old box, even though it boots.
Windows 98 is faster than Lucid.

No. The first post was involved soliciting advice. This one is a reprise with specific visual evidence of the problem.
I'm not working on it right now. I'm backing up data and thinking about distro advantages/disadvantages and customization.
