Drive icons erroneously displaying as floppy drives (Solved)

Post by amethyst »

My old internal harddrive has finally given up the ghost so it's been disconnected and I'm running from usb pendrive. Problem is that the drive icons now display as floppy drives and changing it to usbdrive icons does not work because it changes back to floppy icons when xserver is restarted. How do I fix this?

Hi:

Can you tell us the way you change the icons? (I imagine you right click on them, choose edit with geany and change the icon, don't you? )

Try right click > App dir'sdb#' > set icons...
or
/usr/local/lib/X11/pixmaps

What Puppy version?

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o

This could be an issue with much older Puppys. Precise does it, Bionic not. Probably not worthwhile to dig into this to fix for old Puppys, not a major issue anyway. Seems to be this specific scenario, no harddrive only usb flashdrive.

Quick fix - I changed the boot media entry in menu.lst from usbflash to ataflash. Voila!
