How do I get i3 window manager to work?

Post by davidjackson »

Hey,
How do I switch window manager to i3?
I installed all the i3 files in ppm and changed etc/windowmanager to i3 (and committed out jwm) but when I boot up I still get the jwm.

TIA,
David

try erasing the "jwm"s and just have "i3" (without the quotes) in the file.

What specific Puppy version you using???????

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o

That's conky. I think you can shut it off in Menu->Desktop->JWMdesk or in a terminal killall conky

There is a toggle switch script floating around that's conveniant. To remove it from the system boot is possible by removing the autostart script.
