NO xzcat Reading writing in Terminal with Foosa pup 9.5 !!!

Post by chilibowl »

Hello Fellow Linux ~Heads - Puppy linux diehards!! MY unit is Fossa PUP 9.5 with FULL install to HARD-DRIVE No-Virtual Crap or Frugal nuttiness!! Basic Intel dual core Hp computer .

I recently tried to revive my Raspberry Pi 3 Model b (Iknow this Is NOT a Raspbery Pi FORUM ).

The unit works Ok with Raspbian , but I Want to try another software distro.

So I went on EXTON linux,s webPage <fellow from Sweden > who has some Free downloads &some Pay-for- -download Os-es.

so I downloaded some Img-SZ to my Fossa PUP 9.5 Box - FEDORA PI "titled" FedEX -Rpi3-armhfp-lxde
and Exton OpSus Rpi (open SusE Tumbleweed ) -xfce-4 .

The Instructions Via this EXTON LINUX webSyte says I should issue the Following Commands : cd /root insert Sdcard of at least 8 Gb

run Install Command xzcat exton -opsus -rpi-tumbleweed -xfce4-aarch64-181126.raw.xz | dd bs=4M of=/dev/sdX iflag=direct status=progress; syncWill This WORK??????

adios Chilibowl

It should, yes. It'll simply pipe output of xzcat to dd which will then directly write to the device. So what you should be doing is making sure is to not mess up the 'of' parameter of dd.

Use a real Linux operating system on your Raspberry Pi 3

Puppy Linux for the Raspberry Pi computers or are you saying you already use it?

RasPup

The release notes tell you how to install it to a micro SD card.

If you try installing using the dd command

I am using it to run a Pi 400

There are some info and specific issues fix topics posted in the forum section for Raspbian Buster (the name it started out using and changed to Raspup).

Several topics on tweaks you can do to it.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
