vanilladpup-x86_64-10.0.89-xwayland

1) after setting the language, the keyboard layout icon appears, but after I want to switch to another layout, it disappears from the taskbar
2)I choose my wi-fi, enter the password, wi-fi connects, only after these manipulations all applications stop opening, even the exit button does not work.

Sadly

Most likely it's something like gxkb or a similar layout indicator switch. Puppy (for example, Ubuntu-based + Xorg) has such a problem (okay, feature :) ) that after adding a second language to English, such switches can work... or they may not work properly. Therefore, the first thing I do is configure them and only then create a save folder. In addition, it is required not to forget to add them to the startup. For example, through Boot Manager.

Different devices. Different approach.

I wouldn't be surprised if this tray icon is broken under Xwayland. In the weird JWM on top of Xwayland on top of dwl setup used in 10.0.x, it's dwl and not Xwayland that controls the keyboard layout.

In the weird JWM

In the weird JWM ,tooting
this speaks for itself, you need to build without a strange jwm

Did you read the whole sentence or stop at "JWM"?
