Hi Boof

Would it be possible for you to view the 4k streams on your PC? What you really need is the URL for the content.

If so, you could try using MPV which is included in Fossapup64.

If you haven't done so before you can update it using Menu - Setup - Quickpet fossa.

Open up terminal and type in the following:

mpv YOUR URL --stream-record=YOUR FILENAME.ts

Alternatively, you can use the *.mkv instead of *.ts

It is an experimental feature in the application.

**EDIT To stop the recording in terminal just press CTRL+C

Also, bear in mind that you will need potentially 7Gb storage per Gb for capture as well as a 4-8GB RAM for buffering the content.

Regarding turning the PC off once the recording has been completed. Hopefully, a member could provide you with a script that would turn the pc off at a set time ie midnight. Or you could set an alarm and then do it yourself.

Good luck!!

If you are buying a Capture stick/card .............. I am guessing that it should have it's own application that should be able to do this for contained within.

You could try MythTV:

@Jasper:-

That's exactly what boof does want to do. You're not aware, obviously, but boof uses that 58in Panasonic TV AS his PC monitor.....very poor eyesight, I believe.

Mike. ;)

OTA TV on your PUP/DOG

Post by Clarity »

Anyone tried a TV antenna stick in their PUPs to get OTA TV signaling and playing on their PUPs or DOGs?

I have been a user of a TV as a monitor for several years. Works beyond compare of past monitors. But, I have never ventured to connect a OTA card to the PC to get signaling for capture.

Great question presented by the OP @boof. I am sure we will need a "howto"

i really dont want to use the web as signal source, even tho' its possible. i really want the hardware for fta reception. it can be usb stick or a card, i don't care. i have a suitable tower pc coming. i doubt there is video sound out on my tv. i'm happy to use my pc as a dvr, my 58in 4khd tv is 3m fro my recliner chair. and it's wonderful, despite its age and up to 250w consumption. i can easliy time shutdown with pShedule>kill [process ID]

.edit

will this do? nb we have digital tv here..

Hi Boof

Digging around a little, I think there are a number of options available:
